I talked to Kufatec about this and they just kept repeating that I had to send the main unit to them

With 2g Kufatec send out a piece of kit you plugin and it makes the changes. 3g is still new so they are still learning it.

I found out that the video on motion is a simple VAG-COM mod... Channel 05 is the place to edit, but RossTech hasn't documented that channel yet. So if anyone have more information or tried the different settings, please let me know.

It is known thing, but I don't know, what is the security code for enabling changing the correct channel.

Isn't that kind of dangerous...to be watching DVDs while you are supposed to be driving?

Yeah, that's cool..

We need to figure out the coding so that we can unlock it with our VAGCOM as well.

Does anybody know if we put a DVD into the 6 disc changer, it would read it as a DVD and play through the screen? Or do we need to put it in the trunk DVD slot?

I'll check out Channel 05 if somebody verifys that you can put a DVD into the 6 disc changer...

Where is your 6 disc changer? You don't use a disc for the navigation map content?

The 6 disc changer is in the dashboard area but has a single slot to feed them.

The navigation DVD is in the DVD player in the boot (which isnt linked to the TV so cant be used for that).

That guy wants 100 Euros so I can download a video on how to do it, using VAGCOM.

SO IT CAN BE DONE! We just need to figure out how... Kufatec just sells the bungle that is like a one-time use reprogrammer... somebody that has used it could tell us the differences?

Thats actually not 100% true. From what i have read and spoke to them about is they actually do connect with you live via phone and computer in order to read the numbers needed in order to unlock for you specifically. I was going to do it since the link shown shows positive results but other things came up now. I know for 2g we need a external dvd drive as well. Dont want to start a forum battle but that site does have some good information as well.

You dont put DVDs in the dash slot. Its not a DVD player but a 6 CD changer. There are two AUX ports that you can add a DVD player to if you wish.

At the moment the only two publicly known ways (as far as I can tell) are these, for both MMI 2G and 3G TV/video in motion:

1) Buy a MMI 2G or MMI 3G dongle from Kufatec (MMI 3G dongle also releases DVD playback while driving), kufatec.de.

2) Or pay to audi-portal.com (http://www.audi-portal.com/en/retrof...ricks_001.html) for them to remote connect to your computer and do it via VAG COM. You need to have VAG COM cable connected to the car, of course.

The latter tells us that it is possible to with VAG COM and both Kufatec dongle and audi-portal.com actually "just" code the car some way that we probably could do ourselves... if we knew how.

Unfortunately the one party that might have this info and a business-case to release it is Ross-Tech (makers of VAG COM), who do not want to release the info - if their employees public comment is correct - for liability reasons (so that they won't be sued when somebody crashes watching video).

Others that know have a business-reason to not tell us... so until someone who knows spills the beans, personally I would sit tight or maybe go with the Kufatec dongle because Kufatec is an older establishment and thus I would better know what I am getting. Everyone is free to choose of course!

Whether or not it is right for people to withhold the information, that is a debate I don't want to have. Nor do I expect the info to come out any time soon, so don't wait for it unless you are prepared to wait forever. MMI 2G is really six years old now and that info still isn't in the public, I doubt MMI 3G info will come out any sooner unless someone in the know decides to tell.

Note: Unlocking this might be dangerous and/or illegal in your country.

What do you know, somebody came up with a free solution for both MMI 2G and 3G, or so they claim:
