I have the problem too between 60-70mph. My 5k is coming up so I'll be asking about this issue while I'm there.

Default Also this is fixed!

At the same time they fixed my B&O setup, they fixed the annoying vibration issue: it is really a common problem (it seems the camber has to be changed 3 degrees, and originally a lot of cars are wrongly setup because of an error in the factory documentation! ).

Ok, just drove about 100 kilometers, but it is directly clear the problem is gone. The car feels much better on the road. Besides the camber, they also put on totally new tires (Continental SC 3, 245/35/19) so let's hope it stays the way it is also when the tires are a little bit older (have more kilometers on it).

Big compliment to my dealer here in Holland (Best) who solved all issues I had promptly. Finally I can fully enjoy my S5!

S4udibert:

Thank you for posting.

Any chance you could get ands post more info on this solution? Did your dealer get the info from Audi? Is there a service bulletin (number?) on this? This solution could be HUGE for a lot of people if it truly works. Although for a lot of people changing tires has helped initially, but not forever.

Please post any more info you can get, a lot of people here and AudiWorld.com would probably really need it. Most Audi dealers, as usual, don't seem to know jack.

As posted earlier in this thread, it concerns Service Bulletin 44-08-04 (see here). I did send this SB to my dealer, because of course they did not know themselves.

Interesting was that they have another client, who knew about the problem (and the +/- 3 degrees camber problem).

Yes, I was aware of that service bulletin. That is the road force solution. But the camber information is new, if there is anything more on that it might interest a lot of people here.

Ah ok, no did not find any new service bulletin about correcting the camber setting. Will ask my dealer about it.

+1

My car is in for its first service today, and the vibration issue is supposed to be addressed.

They know about the TSB. Any further information on camber? This is the first (and last) place I have seen it mentioned.

My car had its first scheduled service yesterday, and the dealer made some adjustments as set out in the TSB (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/attachmen...8&d=1219144697).

There were NO camber adjustments made whatsoever.

That said, the issue has been minimized but is certainly not solved. My work order has remained open and the car is going back.

Sorry, still no answer from my dealer. What I know is that they bring the car to Germany (not far from Holland) to solve this persistent problem.

only the passport for your car

After 2 attempts to correct the problem here in Holland, they send the car to Germany and they solved it (for the moment, of course I don't know if the problem will come back, keep my fingers crossed). As written before: it seemed that many cars had a wrong camber angle (not only the A5/S5, also the Q7!) and can result in this vibration effect.

Nothing new. If you have vibration issues take the car to the dealer with the copy of the Tech Bulletin. They will then fix the car. I took mine in last week. Two new tires are on their way to the dealer to fix the out of limit on the road force.

Yes, absolutely (A5 3.0TDI, running S5 19"), although my vibration doesn't seem to go away as the tyres warm up. I had the wheels re-balanced several times - and even had new tyres put on the front. But still the vibration is there between 70-80mph.

I'll call my dealer re the camber settings, but I would put money on them claiming ignorance....

It's driving me nuts!

Most of these posts seem to be from guys in the US. Has anyone in the UK tried the camber adjustment and had positive effects from it? Might give me some ammo to use with the dealer. thx.

they say putting the michelin pilot sports fix the problem which i have now and are great tires but the problem is still there along with the faulty window seal, the vibration not getting fixed, a broken bearing already im having audi terminate my contract and im buying an 09 m3. The A5 was beautiful and much nicer inside and out than the m3 but the m just drives soooo nice and has a very nice power band

@afizzle87, sorry.. , it's the complete opposite to what I've experienced so far.
It had the issue, but I went for an upgrade. New Michelin PS2 tires, new rimms, and from the first day .. to date, still no vibration issues. I have done 4500 miles btw.

Default Audi is Seeking a Suspension Fix: Confirmed by Dealer

Like everybody else, I have had the vibration issue in the 60 - 70 mph range. Audi of Tysons Corner followed the TSB, got out of spec road force readings for all 4 tires, and has an opened a hotline for my case with Audi technical staff. At this point, the lead technician indicated Audi knows about and has been working hard to solve the problem, and that changing tires is most likely NOT the ultimate solution. Audi knows something is wrong with the suspension, and hasn't figured out a fix as yet, but is definitely working on a solution.

I only have 3500 miles on my car and tires, so just changing tires for the sake of changing tires doesn't seem worth the effort, especially since it has become clear that doing so is not likely to solve the vibration problem.

The good news is that Audi is being honest about copping to the problem and seems to be genuinely interested in solving it for owners with the complaint. For all of us, hopefully that solution is not too far away, and hopefully not to complex.

I appreciate all the previous posters, who confirmed I was not crazy and who led me to the TSB which helped me get the help I needed.

Exclamation Help A5 vibrations from Spain

Hello,
I am an owner of A5 since February. Sorry my English but I am using a web translation. The point is that I have the same problem that many users of the forum with my A5, in Spain in the forum audisport if they introduce my nickname in the search engine google AFECTADOA5 or possibly can read my whole history of vibration.
My car has wheels 17 and came with Dunlop tire alver sport ... and the vibrations were unbearable. In the workshop of Audi after a long fight, I switched to Continental Tire. And only the vibrations are disguised. Today I continue with my fight against the seller and the brand as they do not get me my car repaired. For them the car is fine and being a sports car is you have to do vibrate!.
take me a long time and I no longer know what to do. Buy the car of which I love and I have not had very good luck. I would like to be able to help me repair my car here in Spain because they do not know anything. Thank you all.

Default Vibration Issue

My car had the vibration issue from day one. I had the wheels balanced twice and 2 rims changed, but the vibration was still there. Finally had the control arms changed and they balanced the wheels again just to be sure and it worked. No more vibration.

Also is anyone able to get a hold of this serivce bulletin and post it up to read?? (The one that mentions changing the control arm as the one posted below mentions nothing about it)
The rain thing sucks doesn't it. I literally had to carry around a towel and pull over every so often and dry out my front wheels. For whatever reason, my HRE wheels don't do that so it must be a design issue.

How are you gonna deal with the dealer having after-market rims? Are you gonna put your stockers back on or just buy the control arms yourself for $650???

Can anyone please post the following information:

1) REVISED correct camber settings for 19" wheels (there is talk above of a 3 degree change, but no mention of what the correct new setting is)

2) PART NUMBERS for the new control arms / bushes

I'm sure a lot of us still experiencing the vibration issues would be very grateful for this information.

thanks in advance

Stock wheels are going back on before I go near the dealer.

I changed my tyre pressures upto 44psi at the front and this had made a huge difference to the vibration, it's now no where near as noticeable as before, also the rain issue is also no where near as bad either.

So glad I didn't have the coilovers put on this year otherwise i'd have had that same issue as you and would have had to fork out the cash for the arms.

Interesting idea... what's the effect of raising the pressure that high (other than helping the vibration?!)? What I mean is, will it affect things like over-heating the tyre, more likely to cause puncture, increased likelihood of blowout etc?
