Hi all
A number of people appear to be interested in the UK to get together for a meet and there have been some posts regarding wanting to get this sorted, but unless I’ve missed it don’t believe anything has been formalised yet. Track days and other events (Audi Club) etc have diarised plans for 2010, but I am also conscious that not everyone wants to take their ‘car out’ on a track day, yet nevertheless still want to have a bit of fun and if possible some driving to boot. Therefore, I am considering pulling together karting team endurance event for members if there is enough interest; hence the post. If anything it will place those S5 drivers on a level playing field with the A5’s guys and gals and we will then be able to see who actually is the quickest! My initial thoughts go something like this: Venue: Daytona Karting Circuit Location: Milton Keynes - (http://www.daytona.co.uk/venues/miltonkeynes/index.html) Date: Sunday 27 June Event: Endurance Event (20 mins practice/qualifying followed by a 2 hr race) Total event duration 3.5 hrs. (Subject to change depending on majority request) Numbers: Min Number required = 20. Current List This is the current list from A5OC and UK A5 / S5 Owners Club A5OC 1. Ageing Biker - Confirmed 2. Mulski - Confirmed 3. Ianhp1 - Confirmed 4. Cosmic Blue 5. Doubledoom 6. MeteorSilver 7-8. RS5ive - Confirmed +1 9. Spinner -Confirmed 10. Graham - Confirmed 11. Graham's Lad - Confirmed....Possible (+2) --. gruffle - Declined 12. BR5 - Possible 13. Edwos - Possible 14. Schmee150 - Possible 15.TJM - Possible 16. AndyHud007 - Possible 17-19. Kirkylar - Confirmed(+another 2) A5/S5 Owners Club (facebook) 20-25. 26. Next person on the list.................... Cheers

Aren't you lucky I'm not an owner anymore
... I wouldn't want to show you up! ![]() ...seriously though... I'd be interested if I'm allowed. I promise to park the Jag a way down the road. ![]() ...All the Kart endurance races I've done have been team events, do you know if this is the case with these? Do we have an opinion on whether we want teams or individuals? For me, the later June event is better, as I'm planing to go and see Green Day on the 19th. MK is closer than Sandown, so a logical preference, but willing to travel!

Mulski,
Great idea, thanks for sorting it out! I would love to be there, but for a chap based on the North Yorkshire borders, and with kids that I've got in tow, it might be tricky for me to get the time to make it... Thanks anyway. Edwos

.Your right an endurance karting is a team event - my thoughts are that to create some interesting rivalry we could always run the A5 guys and gals against the S5's, but if people prefer to race individal heats, I can always change the format. At present, just trying to gauge the interest levels to see if this is a go'er Quote:

Nice one Mulski, I've voted for Sandown (as it's nice & close and I'm familiar with the track - which might off-set the extra 'ballast' I'm carrying...) but I'd likely make it to MK as well.
As Ian says, certainly the Sandown endurance events are team-based (I span my kart coming into the pit lane for a driver change and wedged it front and rear across the lane - queue of not-very-happy would-be pitters soon built up....!) as few of us could manage 2 hrs in one of those things! But depending on numbers, could work out well... Put me down for 2 as I'd drag the lad along as well......

Hi Mulski,
Yes I'm up for it and would probably bring one of my lads along too if allowed.

Spoke to the team at MK, but their head of sales for private events wasn't available. Am awaiting a call back from him tomorrow morning, or will chase if nothing heard by Lunch to try and get a discount, so will be able to update everyone tomorrow evening.
Cheers

or Daytona Old Trafford ('cept on match days) - but that would just start a north-south argument about who are the better drivers

Hi All, apologies for not relpying sooner - just finished few marathon sessions at work, hence the late (early
) reply:Only available dates/time on one of the days from the dates mentioned above is atthe Daytona Circuit Milton Keynes, although Sandown Park have promised to call me back tomorrow due to a provisional booking that may cancel: Sun 27th Jun at 13:00 on the International Circuit - Milton Keynes. The International circuit is 1360m in length comprising 11 corners, some of which are very technical and straights of various lengths. The International circuit suits racers of all abilities from beginners to serious enthusiasts and is widely considered to be one of the best circuits in the UK. Prices are inc of VAT, helmets, coveralls etc etc Race Options are: 1. Individuals Event - i.e. everyone races simultaneously. Min driver numbers required is 20 1a. 10 min practice/qualifying followed by a 40 min race - £82.50 each 1b. 10 min practice/qualifying followed by a 1 hour race £92.50 each 2. Team Event Min driver numbers required is 30 2a. 10 min pactice/qualifying followedby 1 hour race - (Team size 2) £145 per team 2b. 15 min practice/qualifying followed by 1.5 hour race - (Team size 2 or 3) £205 per team 2c. 20 min practicequalifying followed by 2 hour race - (Team size 2, 3 or 4) £250 per team. Response Request Based on the returns from this forum and A5 Club (facebook) the Individual event (1a or 1b) seems the most likely outcome with potential 21 people interested, although with a few more we could get to the Team event min numbers of 30. Based on the above pricing and date, can you please reply on this post to let me know: a) if you still interested. b) which options from the above you would prefer (1a or 1b) and also should the numbers exceed 30, would you prefer to go to option 2a or 2b or stay with the 'individual' option? c) any additional drivers (wives, husbands, offspring* etc) that you would like to bring along. I do need to get a provisional booking placed as soon as possible to prevent others booking this 1 PM slot and being only left with an evening slot, so if you could let me know sooonest, that would be appreciated. * Are there minimum ages and heights for racing? There are age restrictions - drivers must be 8 years and over to compete in Juniors and 16 and over to race in adult single-engined karts. (14 yrs and over for advanced junior racers subject to parental consent). Racers must be 125cms (4 feet 2 inches) tall to drive a cadet and 140 cms (4 feet 7 inches) tall to drive an adult kart. Minors attending the venue to race must either be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or alternatively have a Daytona parental consent form presigned by a parent authorising another adult to act in loco parentis. Please discuss with us when you book to avoid disappointment.. Cheers

Still interested ...
1b or 2b for me, £10 for the additional 20 mins is a no brainer! Of cause if that's too long for some of the oldies I'll still do the shorter time period. Soz no additional drivers at present, will ask few others. And before RS5ive gets on here and starts attempting to slaughter me, yes I will make the height restriction ![]()

Looks great Mulski. I'm happy with either 1a or 1b, although 1 hour at the wheel of a kart... I'm going to be knackered and ready for my ovaltine!!
I was wondering if they do a Grand-prix event, with several small (sprint) races in a round-robin and then finals... this is the format that I've done most with groups, and its fun because you get to spectate and race? Not complaining, just surprised to see it wasn't an option. I will see if I can drag a few others along... will get back to you. Good work Dude

How about "homey?", "Man" or "Bro?" - do any of those make me sound young, hip and trendy (or maybe even fly?)

Mulski... just thinking... if it's at MK, the APS guys might like to join us? ...I'd suggest giving Ed a buzz. At the very least, they could remap a few cars whilst we're karting!
