Tints

I had ordered my car with out privacy glass, i would like to tint my windows now.. can anyone recommend any particular place in West Yorkshire or anywhere by Manchester.
Also i had read somewhere in past that tints might conflict with some of electrics of car.. how true is that?

I think its mainly the tinting process that puts the electronics in jeopardy. Problems arise when water gets into the electrical componenets.

Make sure you cover the area under the back window (specifically the driver side rear quarter panel) with lots of towels. You may also want to tell your tinter to go easy on water usage in that area.

The electronics located there control your speakers and NAV. If you shorten the circuits with water, you're looking at a couple thousand dollars worth of damage that isn't covered by Audi.

I'm not from that area, but I think Paragon may be up there? they're supposed to be good.

Taimoor,

Try Cappuccino Tints. Just Google it for details. Odd name for a company but very highly reputed in the Yorkshire region.

I live in Ilkley, but my office and factory is in Keighley; not so far from H'field.

Think from memory that Audi can't retrofit privacy. Better to find highly reputed local independant to do the works for you. Only go by recommendation. I've seen some shocking jobs done!!!

I'm assuming that retro fit must be possible. Think about it: If you have a break in, Autoglass would replace like for like. However, I suspect that it would be extremely expensive to have all the glass replaced; a decent tint should cost no more than £300.

+1. There are cowboys out there and the last thing that you want is to ruin the look of your expensive car. Look for:
a) Companies with good references / customer testimonials
b) Fitters that only do the work indoors in a minimal dust enviroment
c) Companies that guarantee their work for the life of the vehicle.

Attached shows my after-market tints. PM me if you want more detail / search on the forum for warnings (inc. mine!!) about water getting into the amp during fitting...

Yeah TJM, thinking about it, you must be right... Privacy glass can be retro fitted.

Thinking about my initial statement, I would have been better to say that Audi do not offer a retro fit as an option.
