This was asked on Audizine from John over at Stratmosphere if it will fit an 08 as well and he said it fits all the MLP/MLB cars with the 6MT. So take the site with a grain of salt...he made some valid points about getting this as opposed to a full short shift kit/new shaft in response to a question as well. May be worth the read over at AZ.

I'm personally interested in hearing some of your thoughts on getting this over a full short shift kit as well similar to the JHM. For the price, this seems great, but I'm still iffy.

this seems like a nice cheaper alternative to the JHM option. Judging by their other kits as pricing is not available, i assume they will price at upwards of $260. In my opinion the shorting of the shifter stalk and different degrees of throw reduction may be worth the premium.

Just placed order and am having it overnighted. Should be installed by tomorrow afternoon and am looking forward to the 45% reduced throw. Many people have complained about the difficulty in finding a comfortable driving position in the 6mt S5. In response, some have suggested that a shorter shift would result in a much more comfortable driving position and overall feel. I happen to agree, and will make sure to comment and include comparisons before and after install.

Thanks to Greg at stratmosphere. so far, great experience dealing with them!

I'm interested to know how it went too. I also feel the throw is too big on my A5 and would like to reduce it.

This went straight to the top of my "to do next" list. Can't wait to hear the review/install notes.

I had this installed earlier this week and after a few days, I wanted to provide some feedback, as follows:

PRO'S
1. Price - for $149, this a no-brainer
2. The advertised 45% throw reduction is there and possibly a bit more.
3. The shifter has a better "weight" to it. Not remotely "snick snick" light but instead a nice, involving snap of two or three fingers to shift.
4. Easy, quick install without the need for any interior part removal.

CON'S
1. When initially installed, I couldn't get reverse. My mechanic put the car back up on the lift and easily figured-out that the reverse gear lockout needed to be re-aligned (he apparently ignored the instructions to mark this with a Sharpie before disassembly). Therefore, not a "con" but more a word to the wise!
2. Reverse is a tad more difficult to get than with the factory shifter

How are the shifts; are they precise or does the shifter add more knotchiness? Thanks for getting back to us with an update. I am debating between a strat and JHM short shifter, but will wait for more feedbacks between the two.

The shifts are indeed more precise IMHO. It doesn't add more notchiness although due to the added "weighty" feeling, there is a perception of slightly more effort needed.

To all my friends especially to Mr.Spinner.... The short shifter is absolutely a MUST have. I let you all discover the fun yourselves as not to spoil the upcoming goosebumps you will all have. One crucial advice: disconnect the asr ( not esp) and floor it all the way in first and second... let me know what you all think

If the lever travel is nearly 50% shorter then simple machanics tells me it must take nearly twice the force to move it?

I was never good in math or science so can't help you there! That being said, there is slightly more force required but I would not call it anywhere near twice as much. Again, IMHO.

It takes more effort to push down and move the lever to the top left position to engage reverse. I think this is a function of my mechanic not marking the position (as indicated in the instructions) before disassembly and further adjustment is needed. In reading reviews from other owners on other forums, there have been similar comments but following the instructions greatly reduces the potential of further adjustment being needed. Regardless, even after a week, I'm already "used to it" and hardly notice it!

Well I HAVE to say - this is one of the most noticeable mods I've done - I LOVE it. It reminds me of my 1968 Lotus Elan SE BDA - While I know the shift lever height is NOT changed (and therefore the actual torque to shift is NOT multiplied) the effort seems to me to be about 20% more - but oh, is it short and smooth. Unlike the others so far, I have NO issues with reverse (or any gear) and I feel it IS pretty snickety. I feel the need to just go and drive - just for the fun of shifting -
