Default Spotted!

Thought it would be an idea to have a spotted thread, you never know who lives nearby!

I've seen the same light grey A5 about 5 times on the A40 towards Gloucester around the Witney area, anyone on the forum?

What a good idea - surprised there wasn't one already.
I spotted a silver S5 today in MK on the dual carriageway near Stacey Bushes it was in front of me seemed to want a race - think there were two blokes in it.

lol - spot the newbies (sorry)

We did this back in 2007 but the novelty wore off as more cars hit the road. However, i understand the sentiment and I am just waiting for the day someone spots me

Could do it for cabs...

There are quite a significant number of A5 and S5 coupes on the roads now, although the brighter colour ones are pretty few and far between.

Yesterday evening; Knightsbridge. Black A5 Cab with red roof. Interesting having just talked about it in another thread.

I won't list every one or it will take forever!

Ok I know we aren't really doing this spotted thing, but yesterday afternoon on the A1 northbound around Hatfield coming out of the 40 back into the 70, I was alongside a brilliant red S5 when the foot went down, I tried to keep up to 3 figures but he was out of site after that.

I'll be there soon

This thread is going to become just me I'm sure, but this morning I saw my first S5 Cabrio on the way to work. It was a black one, not sure which heading along the Victoria Embankment eastbound at about 7.45am. I was cycling the other way so didn't get much of a glimpse but the chrome mirrors stood out enough, and then turning around briefly I saw the S5 logo go by.

To the owner; thank you for making my morning cycle in to work so exciting!!

I wave at every A5 Cab or S5 Coupe I see; there are too many to wave at all the A5 Coupes though.

I think twice I've had waves back, one was a forum member, not sure about the other one.

Are you a car snob then?? or just driving so slowly you can spot the difference between an A5 and S5...

I don't think I'll bother waving at any V6 Audis anymore, just V8's... but not white or grey ones?? ;-0

Come on get real!!! I will wave at anyone.

Ermm I'm sorry, A5 cabs there aren't many of; S5s there aren't many of.

If I waved at every A5 my arm would fall off... you have to draw a line somewhere.

And the line isn't on S5 cabs, there are not very many of them for that...

The effort made deciding not to wave to a 'common peasant' (as you imply) A5 driver must tax your brain enormously.

Can you not tell the difference immediately? I mean I know I have good eye sight, and could get caught by a swapped over grill or different exhaust pipes, but the standard setup is pretty instantly detectable (mirrors etc...).

Haha I can never tell if people on the internet actually believe what they write if they are just being intentionally controversial...

Scarily Tim, in the case you reference, it's a bit of both!

Don't want to piss on anyone's party and maybe it marks me as a curmudgeon but this waving at other similar cars lark just seems a bit silly. I mean, really? 'Hello, you have another mass-produced car like mine so I'm going to flap my hand at you because I want to acknowledge that we're kinda all members of some special club'. Yes, maybe 'special' is indeed the word......

For the avoidance of doubt and to appease 'Net Nanny' I would never not wave at an A or S 5 (Coupe or Cab) just because it had the wrong engine.

I suggest based on your post that it seems a bit naff to suggest 'I'm only going to 'flap my hands'' at nice Audis not the CHAVs..hence my 'challenge' to you.

All a bit boring RG; you flap away as much as you need to to bring excitement to your life and if Shmee wants to be a bit more selective with his waves, then I guess that's fine as well.

Are we sorted now?

Ermm haha, I get the RG thing too

Today I waved at every A5 or S5, it felt like 50 of the things! No S5 Cabs though I'll reserve flashing for them!

Back to RS5ive's point though, I like to wave just because it's a little fun connection you have with the other driver. Pretty much all of my driving is because I enjoy it, I never do anything that actually requires me to go in the car (commute or transporting); it's 100% a toy and therefore just a bit of fun really.

Hi Shmee.. If you get the RG thing too perhaps you would like to share as I am confused!!

I like a quick wave too, my point is why only wave at Cabriolets and S5's???

It's a joke about an old forum member who used to only write things to be difficult and try to trigger a response.

The only Cabriolets and S5s thing is; same type of car as me (A5 Cabriolet family), and same/equivalent engine (3.0 V6T or 4.2 V8). Seriously the number of A5s of all descriptions I see daily would just drive me crazy (if waving at all of them), and most are driven by people who would just be surprised and not know what on earth you were doing; not all, but most!

But MOTM - you have clearly recently stated on at least one other thread you are currently "experiencing a black S5" so you will get a wave. I swear its sometimes like two complelely different people posting (nah...can't be....).

Shmee - I must confess to a similar waving thing, but mine tends to involve around making "special" hand signals to 18 year old onanists who cut me up in their blinged up Saxos........

LOL - or how about an 'ex'-forum member posting as a new forum member and completely failing to remember what car/car he has/has had/wants, etc. in the name of fooling everyone? Pretty comical actually, I'm loving playing the 'spot the contradictions' game! Although I think I'll get bored soon.

Jen, to be honest, you went through such a phase of changing cars so frequently that i've lost track of what your current ride is - and if it's wave-worthy!

Shmee, I do actually understand the wave thing - in my Alfa days, the AlfaOwner forum had a long-standing thread ('I got the Alfa wave') but in the context of Alfas, it seemed a bit more appropriate (i.e. a friendly acknowledgement that the oncoming car was still moving under its own power and not courtesy of the AA). I just think that the tradition is just devalued somewhat amongst a mass of mass-produced Audis. So in fact, you're absolutely right - if it is to be done, it should be reserved for the upper echelon, basically the cars with the silver mirrors (including RG if he's chosen the S5 from his stable that particular day.....)

Split Personality perhaps...
I have never had a wave from Shmee! My point was why would he wave at me in an S5 but not anyone in a 'common' A5.

Shmee et al. I have been sent a PM alerting me to the fact that RG is featuring heavily in recent postings...I am flattered that I am missed on this forum.

I have been in LA recently and not picked up much but having looked at what is going on it seems that a certain member has diverted his stalking activity to ManoftheMoment.

It is good to see the RG name living on but please give this new Guy a break.

Cheers

You're priceless MoTM - I even knew that you'd do that! 'In LA' - a lovely euphemism for a six month ban which you circumvented with a new account.

Frankly, I don't think anyone really cares, but please don't insult the intelligence of those on the forum to whom it's an open secret!

Priceless, absolutely priceless!
