On a similar note. If you have an SDHC in place, can you close the flap over the front of them? Or does it have to stay open, in which case it looks ugly.

I think a pair of 32GB SD cards is the way to do music in this car. Always have 1 in the car, 1 in the house to update and swap them over when you want to put new songs in (I update playlists almost daily).

Awesome. I don't think before now I'd ever actually opened it. Certainly haven't put an SD card in.

2 slots..? I have just the one.
Is this because I have Audi Infotainment System instead of full MMI?

Would I be right in saying that listening to the B&O via SD (fascia flap) or via iPod (AMI) will give near identical sonic results, all other things being even?

Cheers

Yeah 1 to each side.

If the same file is being listened to it should be identical. Digital stream at the same bitrate.

Right, I'll check in a mo when i get into the car. One each side... So can I keep 2 loaded simultaneously and switch between them?

Next question. Do we know as yet with 2010 model what the largest SD card is that will work ok? And which brand?

Cheers

I would love to know the answer to all 3 of those questions too. I'm looking at a 32GB Sandisk Ultra one for about £75 and thinking I want two of them.

There are two slots behind the flap. You can load both - and switch between the two - seamless.

I've used 32Gb SDHC and they work fine. No idea as to which brand (I have various).

The only problem now is getting iTunes to sync to an SD card, but Google seems to have the answers to that one

Correct. I only have one also on my Symphony Radio. I have a selection of my music on five MP3 CDs at the moment loaded into the radio so I have not gone down the SDHC card route yet!

Indeed, the MMI high has 2 SD slots (and 1 SIM slot if you have BT plus).

About iPod/AMI vs USB/AMI, SD, jukebox, etc: there IS a big difference: only the iPod is using its own D/A converter, so the analogue signal is put in into the MMI, whereas all other options use the built-in D/A converter of the MMI itself. Look for some other threads about the real difference in audio fidelity between the two (and yes, that's why I skipped the iPod!).

Fantastic, that makes it sound very much like iPod is not the way to go. I'll get myself some SD cards!

Think I might go for the 100gb hdd and dump it into AMI, so that I get better results than the iPod is giving.
But then I have all th hassle of converting from iTunes mp4 into mp3 and sorting all the tags.
That's a ball ache of a job for 100gb of music that I have.....

I can tell you this, I've been loading a TON of music on (Still can't figure out how to delete songs off of the jukebox...) Having the iPod's set playlists is a VERY nice feature over direct loading like I'm doing. In my case, I can't have playlists and I can only go random through albums, genres, or the entire library. I plan to just buy an iPod to keep in there and update once a week or so....

The 3G MMI HD Nav gives you 10GB of space on the HD called the Jukebox. If you have 3G MMI HD Nav, then you have it.

MMI 3G takes two SD/SDHC. MMI 2G takes no cards.

Radio Concert/Symphony take one SD card up to 4 GB (like the Transcend card which works) and radios with software 0310 upwards (or 03x0?) take one SD or SDHC up to 32 GB.

One can usually upgrade a radio to 0310 to get the new capacity, this has been confirmed - the hardware support seems to be there.

Default SDHC Cards

Guys,

The 3G MMI has a 4,000 track limit per device limit. This means that no matter how big your HDD in the glove box is and no matter how many tracks you put on it, the MMI will recognise and play only the first 4,000 tracks. This means that there is no point getting any device for the MMI (HDD, thumb drive or SD card) which can hold more than 4,000 songs.

Cheers,
Vincoom

So....... For those of us with the Audi Infotainment System as opposed to full blooded MMI, does the same capacity at source apply..?

I have the Concert Audi Infotainment on version 301 and can confirm that SDHC cards will not work. I have a 4 gig transcend and it says unreadable.
How do I get the radio upgraded to 310? Is that something I can do or do i have to take it to the dealer?

If your music collection is CD Quality or greater than that 4,000 track limit can easily equate to 20 GB or more.
