You can enable this with VAGCOM: http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a5vagcodes.html

Enabling reverse mirror tilt on cars without memory seats: Go to module 52 Door Elect, Pass., Long Coding, Byte 4. If the byte has value 40 (cars without electrically folding mirrors), change it to 4C. If the byte has value 50 (cars with folding or folding/dimming mirrors), change it to 5C. Afterwards when reversing and the mirror knob is in passenger position the passenger side mirror will tilt while on reverse to better show the curb. Without memory seats it is currently not known if the tilt can be adjusted, it seems to default to a standard amount according to reports (see links below, thanks to EuroDan and Unisurfer). It was reported by -V- (here in Finnish: http://www.ultimatevw.com/keskustelu...10753&sivu=185) that 4C won't work in some cars, but value 44 instead does. This probably has to do with equipment levels. Ross-Tech has updated their VCDS/VAG-COM software data to include relevant bits with descriptions, so you can more easily try different combinations.

I activated it , really not much of a dip , it didnt return up after reverse was disengaged , only worked if mirror control was switched to passenger side and someone else posted that the heated mirror stops working whilst the control is switched over.

It goes back up after you move forward at a certain speed (like 10 mph)

I have memory seats and it works already when delivered, but..........only the right side (passengers side) mirror (in a LHD car).

Is there a way to enable BOTH mirrors, so also the drivers side mirror? It happens often here, that there is only line parking on the left (driver) side of the street.

It worked when I did it.

Then I had to make an adjustment to my mirror.

Now, it does whatever the F*** it wants when I go in reverse. Seriously, sometimes up. Sometimes down. Tomorrow it mite spin in a circle for funzies...

I'm going to try to switch back to stock, finalize my mirror settings then reinit. with the code...

I enabled this feature via VCDS and to be honest, it irritated the hell out of me so I promptly disabled it again! It never tilted far enough down and I was in the habit of adjusting the mirror manually anyway when I was negotiating close to the kerb so it only confused matters.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the tilt-attack level could somehow be configured but I gave up before I'd got that far!

i personally think it's a nice feature to have, especially if you have to parrell park on a regualar basis. This is a nice feature that both your passenger side rims will thank you for.

As for the heated mirrors, I have three options with the switch for the mirrors. 1) Drivers side, 2) Heated, and 3) Passenger side. I can see why the heated mirrors will not work when switched to the passenger side to enable the mirror to rotate down. You would need to change the switch back to the center postion for this to work. I love this feature and it works perfectly for me. As stated above, the mirror returns to the orignal position at about 10 mph.

When I Part Exchanged my A4 Cab the dealer said that the front near side alloy gets trashed the most on curbs. That's the one they check. Actually, in my case that was true. Mine hit a curb stone that was sticking out from the curb. Fortunately A4 Cabs came with full size alloy wheels, so the trashed one end up as the spare! I don't really see the merit in the mirror mod (touch wood)!
