Default MMI 3G AMI Connector Lead Question and SD Card query.

Hi Guys

Quick question. I've ordered the MMI 3G Tech Pack with AMI for my A5 Cab and wondering what leads you get with the AMI connector?

Do you get all the connectors and one lead where you can just change the plug on the end to suit the device you want to connect? or do you just get say (in the UK perhaps) just the iPod Connector?

What if I want a Mini USB connector like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=170392370241

Do I have to buy it separately?

Also, does anyone know the max size of SD card the MMI supports?

Ta!

Andy

I only got the IPOD cable and have recently bought a mini USB cable.

I've used up to 32Gb SD cards without a hitch...

Many thanks for the quick response.

weird, does that imply you dont get any say in the lead you want/need and its just iPod only? I guess the brochure implies iPod only its description for the UK market... hmmm

As for SD card size... cool. that is plenty then!

Cheers

Andy

You get two leads, one for the iPod and another with a female USB end.

The iPod integration works really well, only limited by the iPod's OTT way of indexing songs and picking up when more than one artist is named on a single track - serving to break the album up into pieces if you are searching by Artist. It works well if your search by album instead though, its annoying!

I'd rather use an external USB disk but 3G MMI applies a 4,000 song limit - lots yes but less than many have in their music collections.

Cosmic,

This was exactly my thinking. I have a 160GB WD laptop drive with a mini USB connector on it and wanted to hook that straight in, but if there is a 4000 song limit I may just use the 10GB inside the MMI and/or SD cards.

No VAG-COM change to increase that limit that we know about perhaps?

Andy

i've got a 500gig hard drive... the 4000 song limit is PER FOLDER... not per drive... but i'm 2G MMI.

What cable comes standard depends on your market, usually nothing from factory itself but dealers may/will add a cable, or not, depending on market...

Note that the 32GB cards supported are SDHC cards, not SD - slight technical difference (no matter to the user though, just get the right type of card - not that there are such large SD cards anyway I guess). SD are supported up to 2 GB and some 4 GB (like Transcend 4 GB SD) work too.

AMI lead part-numbers here, note that MMI 3G iPod cable is newer/different part number than the old MMI 2G iPod cable was - the new has a blue grommet on it:

Understood. Cheers for the info.

I only have SDHC cards so all good there. Be interesting to see what my UK Dealer will offer as a lead. Hopefully at least 1 of them having just spent that much on the Tech Pack!

Cheers

Andy
