I posted up on the top about the bad experiences with the first Audi dealer i went to (and the BMW dealer) but i thought its only fair to give the other side of the story too.

The dealer i eventually bought from was top notch. He was EXTREMELY helpful when buying the car. He knew most of the info and anything he didn't know he checked out for me and got back to me within hours. Didnt just ignore me a pain in the ass customer. He went out of his way to show me all the possible colours, options etc...

He offered me plenty of test drives in various models for as long as i wanted without me even having to ask.

He'd offer me and my girlfriend cups of tea and coffee any time we called.

After my first visit, it was about 2 months before i called back and he remembered both me and my girlfriends name.

Offered me about a €5000 discount without me even asking.

Showed me all around the car for ages when i got it and gave me a free bottle of engine oil for my first re-fill (dont know if we all get that though as standard ?)

He also gave me one or two other small free items that are too long to type

About a week after i bought it i received a Thank You card in the mail.

About a week later i got a phone call just to check that everything was ok and i was happy with everything.

About a month after that i got another card in the post with a voucher for a free golf lesson and round at a course near i live. (They already had my money at that stage !)

I also got another letter inviting me to take part in some golf tournament if i wanted...

Just wanted to put the other side accross that while yes, there are some AWFUL dealers who dont seem to give a damn and treat us as if they are doing us a favour selling us a car, there are also some really nice ones who will go out of their way to make sure you are happy - even after they have got your money.

Hi Savo,
Excellent news, there are still individuals out there who know how to do the job! Now if anyone you know expresses an interest in an Audi, where will you be sending them, I wonder????

Interesting update, thinking about what Ess said he's right I shouldn't let the dealer prevent me from getting the car I actually want. I called 'my' dealer again and managed to prise a quote from them. On a PCP though a £49k S5 still costs more than the £61k XFR and requires a higher deposit...I really want another S5 but it ain't lookin so good right now.
you just missed my eyes, i need a G&T before i go reading this one... anyone fancy filling me in on the latest update?!

But on the matter of audi stealers.... since the credit crunch they dont give a monkeys arse except for one sales boy in aberdeen he cant do enough

back soon

think Audi is going to be in for some growing pains....the new lineup of cars should really increase their sales (heck they were 1 of 2 automakers last year to post an increase in sales)......

I'd guess the dealerships are struggling to adjust....lord knows my dealership is awful.....

Where an enthusiast spending his/her own money is concerned, the motivation will be different and I am sure you will agree.

I love the car, hate the ownership experience.
tell that to audi uk.

I know there are some hopeless dealers out there. I recommend Walton Audi. (surrey) They are very helpful. Thats both the service dept and sales dept.

I wonder if any of these dealers get like a mystery shopper? To review the buying experience rather than rely on an after sales questionnaire. Speaking of which, my only bit I didn't like bout the dealer was the parking facilities on site. I turned up a few days later to find they had sorted the parking situation out. ...Love to think that was a result of my individual feedback

I had a shocking experience with Guilders Sheffield Audi. They are idiots as are their friends in the VW garage next door as i have found out buying my wifes Scirocco. So i drove over the Pennines to Smith Wright Fay at Stockport told them what i wanted how much i was willing to pay, they said yes. Car arrived 11 weeks later, now done 2k miles very happy customer. Can't say i asked them to bend over backwards in terms of test drives etc but they listened to what i was asking for rather than tell me what i wanted and try and sell me the car in the showroom.

Yes, you're right, I do agree! And as long as it was a conceptualisation, then that's ok, then.

Good, then it would appear that we are completely in accord.

In the main, now I understand your post better, I agree entirely. As I now work in the bike industry, you can imagine what an emotional purchase that is, and yet dealers in the bike industry are light years behind car dealers in terms of customer service. My only real fear with my prospective new purchase is that the dealers don't live up to the quality of the product. Maybe I should order something else?

On the contrary! I love the XF Jag and if it were more affordable it would be on my list too. I have a colleague who has had one for the last two years and after Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc he maintains that it is the best car he has ever had, and he pays very heavily for the privilege.

Thanks for that AB, I think middle age has crept up on me, but I like Jags (have an XK so not entirely new to brand) but there is something appealing about the fact its not German (Yeah I know its a posh Tata now !!) and although its a very quick car its wafty enough to satisfy my growing need for comfort and refinement. And I really like the interior lighting ....proper cool.

Anyway deed has been done, wheels are in motion and the S5 is finally going...I am going to miss it

If anyone wants a mint condition low mileage, high spec S5 for less than forecourt price, you have two weeks.....

Blade

Sorry to here about the lack of help offered to you by Audi, I can understand your frustration and I hope you enoy your new ride. Don't forget you don't need to be an Audi driver/owner to be on this site we even let in BMW drivers

Let us know when it arrives and how you would compair it to your S5.

So it's even arriving a damn sight quicker than the Audi. Perhaps there are some lessons to be learned here.

Don't worry lads, I don't think Blade will leave us. In fact, I bet you all a pint that he misses his S5 so much that he buys it back again.......... again.

Hi Blade, I wouldn't even bother trying to defend your decision. Anyone who thinks that it is an "old man's car" clearly has never been in one.

Default dealers dont want to see 5s

I felt the same way they didnt care if i gave them $50000 or not. Had very little info about the car, not even a catalog. still never got the catalog or got anwsers like thats the way it is. They were lucky i loved the car and read everything abut it before a came to them.

I then spoke to both to make sure they had everything they needed to provide a quote and I told them not to worry about the PX figure until we had settled on the lease package.

Audi Blackburn (I contacted them initially about a demo S5 Tip they were advertising but switched to a new car option due to some missing spec) received their email last Tuesday - I've heard nothing since. The other dealer is the one I purchased my current S5 from and I wont mention their name here but I spoke to them on Friday morning and its now nearly lunch time on Tuesday and still nothing ! I'm not chasing them, if this is the way Audi dealers behave then I will not be buying another Audi..if my sales guys treated customers like this I'd kick them out the door.....angry. I can only assume they are so busy that they don't need my business.

so I wrote to the owner

he ignored me

so I wrote to Audi UK

no letter back, but I get a (perfectly friendly) assistant on the phone politely explaining that there was nothing they could do as it was a dealer issue.

Eventually get a letter back form the owner of the dealer who completely fails to answers the points raised and makes even more wild claims and then utterly inaccurate assertions about my "repeatedly abusive behaviour". WOT?
(I can only presume this face saving is for the benefit of Audi's eyes)

pathetic

perhaps if I was spending £60K instead of only £40K i would get better service
... or maybe not.

As a result of above, have just been to testdrive a Jag Diesel S ... and you know what it's not bad at all espcially now they fit "sports" seats ... but you know the A5 is just that bit better (for me anyway) and I only have to go near a dealer once every 9 months.. and the A5 residuals probably just that bit safer

where's that dartboard gone?
