2016 S5 remap?

Just about to place an order on a S5 coupe after getting the figures somewhere near what I wanted.
Plan is to remap the car and pulley pretty much straight away.
Question I'm asking is does anyone know of any problems remapping a 2016?
As I heard Audi sometime change the software to stop people doing this?
Cheers Kev

Yea they changed the ECU on the latest S5 so no remap just yet. Don't think MRC are far off getting it cracked though

ECUs have been encrypted for a while, so every time there is a new on the tuners have to hack it. The S5 got the new SIMOS 16 ECU in Summer 2014 and as far as I am aware no tuner has yet announced that they are able to remap it.

Spoke to mrc and they are currently close to being able work with the latest CREC software
They are confident that by my delivery time comes (12-14 weeks) they should have something in place.
Think the latest change to ecu was march 2015

Thanks for the report. I had heard that MRC are 'close' but then we have heard a variety of qualitative measurement for when it might happen so I decided to stop asking and just wait until it really happens.

Although there may have been an ECU change in March 2015 (I haven't checked myself), when I first found out that my car had a CREC engine I looked into how long it had been in production and I think the earliest I found was June or July 2014. I assume that the SIMOS 16 ECU was used at that time (replacing the SIMOS 8). The changes are significant (the CREC engine has an additional 6 fuel injectors for example).

Absolutely. I bought my last 3 cars with the intention of tuning them. I didn't for the WRX since I crashed and wrote it off before I had the chance . For my B5 S4 I waited 2 years until the warranty expired (it was a personal import so no 3rd year) and then had it remapped. I'm not going to wait 3 years before getting the S5 tuned but want to get 1 Audi dealer service recorded before I do so that will be at 12 months old which is in April.

In a way I have no choice but to get it tuned. When I decided it was time to move on from my B5 I wanted to consider a break from 'specialised' insurance and servicing and get a car which would be good enough unmodified. I dismissed the TTRS as too small and then considered a Nissan GT-R. But the practicality of that bothered me and then someone on a GT-R forum suggested I get a stage 2 B8 S4/S5 which should have 'similar' performance to one of the early unmodded UK spec GT-Rs. So getting a stage 2 on my S5 is simply completing the decision I made a year ago.

Some good logic there. I bet a remapped S5 will bring an immense amount of joy with little to no extra fuel costs?

Keep on to him as he will have it at least stage 1 by the end of the year

Dippy, I was up against a GT-R at Bedford and this was before the MRC tune and Im not 100% sure what state it was in at that time tbh as my memory is like a sieve but whatever state it was in it was as quick on the straights but not in the bends. I would like to think the GT-R is a better handling car even though I had Bilsteins then but its likely the driver was simply better than I lol.

I would most defo like to go up against one as the MRC tune made a nice difference and gave me that head rush feeling back which I had lost but Im not sure at all what track days will be done this year. Would love to go back to bedford as it is epic and my mate has found an R8 Plus and already banging on about them in the summer but I would love to see more Audi's especially the RS variety at some.

Well to be fair I'm not concerned about the ability to race a GT-R since my car's for road use and we shouldn't race on the road should we (Indeed I had a short 'race' with a Porsche yesterday - I shall post a video - and his actions reminded me that I really shouldn't have succumbed). However the test drive I had of a GT-R which was an unmodified 2009 (so around 480bhp) made it clear that I wanted that level of performance. However other than the practicality side I wasn't so keen on the road handling and I felt that the GT-R is a track car which claims to be also a road car - but with compromises. Certainly Nissan got a great Nurburgring time didn't they?

Not sure, but I wonder if the engine cover is a good indication?

This was the older one and maybe indicates the older ECU:

Whereas this is mine from my S5 registered on Nov 2015:

Anyone know if the unitronic software will work on the 2016 CREC? Been trying to confirm.

My engine cover is the square (older) design in the first picture referenced in the posts above. Looks like I need to locate the build stickers in the trunk as I hope it's not the CREC ecu. Anything else to help confirm?

Been emailing O.CT Oberscheider Tuning GmbH in Germany who have confirmed they can remap the CREC Simos16 ECU, but don't have any tuning partners in UK - you can either send them your ECU or take a road-trip...

That strongly suggests that yours is NOT a CREC engine. The engine code is on a label in the engine bay. Mine is visible on the bodywork on the offside.

I believe my engine code is CTUB according to the sticker on the warranty manual. It's the only 4 digit code starting with a "C". Please verify if possible.

I do see that code on the UNITRONIC website which is good for me.

CTUB should use the older SIMOS 8.x ECU which has been cracked for a while so you should be able to get a remap.
