Yea so they say but I don't know anyone that has had an issue where this would be looked for?

Do it, transforms the car hugely and then stage 2, well thats something else and going to 480bhp odd from 333 is amazing gains

Mrc said to me that it will flag td1 by an Audi dealer, If I have a remap done.
Has anyone had any experience of this? I contract hire my car so assume I have to have it serviced by Audi instead of a specialist for oil changes etc.

The question is if the dealer will check. At a regular service there is little chance that the tech will do so. However if you were to need work done which should be covered by warranty then a check might be done. The more expensive the work the higher the chance. The wildcard is if there is a maintenance update of the ECU firmware. I know that in the US there is a recent update to fix a false positive on an emissions test. It doesn't seem to affect UK cars, but maybe that's because we got the CREC engine.

The bottom line is if you get a remap there is always a chance that it will be detected, no matter what 'tricks' a tuner might use. So you need to assess the risk if this happens. You might find that your contract hire company forbids modifications. If so that is possibly a bigger risk than for Audi to flag the car as TD1.

So, what exactly does an MRC stage 2 package include - I'm assuming pulley (crank or SC) and exhaust are going to be required to hit these numbers??

Hardware is oversize crank pulley & air intake changes (new filter & hose, plus air box mods). The figures stated are without any exhaust parts - I understand that apparently the OEM exhaust is not very restrictive and that really uprating it is only needed beyond stage 2.

I have decided if it can be detected sod it anyway. Car is 13 months old now and I plan on keeping another 12 months or so, so hopefully shouldn't have any issues.
Might do the dsg map too if prices aren't too high, but probably won't get exhaust or pulley.
My brother is talking about getting his TTS mapped by MRC so getting the S5 done should still keep him in the rear view!

I have just ordered a Fluidampr crank pulley. Fecking expensive* but I feel better to have a dampened pulley.

*And I bet I'll be hit with import duty too...

Hi,

I have just had my S5 sportback 2011 mapped by MRC. Stage 1 with their airfilter, modified airbox and silicone pipe plus the S-tronic box map.

457 bhp + 535nm

Transformed the car, I am very happy. The gearbox map works a treat too, eliminated the 1st to 2nd low speed jerk and made changes quicker.

Lovely

Thanks for the info Jay really good increase there, but makes me want it even more

I have a revo intake kit on mine so with the ecu and dsg map would be great if it could make a similar figure.

Fingers crossed I will be getting a bonus soon then as I know what it's being spent on!

Nice gain there, I'm sure more knowledgeable members will correct me but I thought a pulley upgrade was required for that kind of power? (e.g. Revos Stage 1+)

The difference between a S1 and a S2 albeit small are quite exceptional in the car.

It is well worth the money. Been running mine since Aug ish 2015 and its been great. Back up at MRC in Feb for a health check and some tweaks I want

Can you clarify what you mean here? If it is small, surely, it doesn't make it "exceptional"...

Revo: Yes, MRC: No. I had the MRC intake pipe from a Stage 2 plus their airbox mod (very clever) from the stage 2, with a tweaked Stage 1 map + S-tronic map. Once I have a BBK and Charge cooler fitted I will go Stage 2+. With this current set up I wont get the heat issues associated with Stage 2 and I am around the power of a Revo Stage 1+.

Doug at MRC really knows his stuff.

Standard I was 339bhp and 471Nm, so a 118HP and 64Nm increase. Astonishing really. Its woke it right up, increased the fuel economy by around 2-3MPG and made it much smoother to drive, better changes, easier at very low speeds and removed the dreaded 1st to 2nd change at walking pace, it actually uses 1st now under light load rather than jumping to 2nd asap.

It has removed the gear change burp though.. not sure if this is good or bad.

What I mean is the gain from an unmapped car to a stage 1 are quite large by numbers, roughly 333bhp to 440/450bhp ish and when going from stage 1 to a stage 2 the gains are much smaller as you only go to around 480-495 ish. Stage 1 is great if you have not driven a stage 2 car but if you have, then you will understand exactly what I mean when making this jump as the power and tq gains feel wonderful and do transform the car both on the road and the track

Doug is legend.

All you need to do is add a pulley and you can get that extra boost and go stage 2 That extra tq really pulls and pushes you firmly in your seat. But you have got great gains from their stage 1 as they are normally around 440/450 but Doug did quote me that when I got mine done which was over a year ago so they making good ground on their already awesome maps.

Looking forward to getting back up their now

You need a better exhaust, the stock one is kiddies play when compared to even a tame one like I have . Isn't that right @DrEskimo lol

Im fortunate to have that does not drone too. It was known as the APR RSC but now Corsa Performance do not deal with APR so they simple the Corsa Performance RSC. No drone in any gear at any rpm otherwise it would have been off in a heart beat lol.

So when you getting yours done Doc?

Never. Not touching it while it's under finance, and as much as I want to buy it at the end of the deal, I can't justify it... I drive about 20miles a week, and I can't park the soddening thing anywhere!

I was looking at chopping it in for a new S3 (easier to park and the Mrs would actually drive it) and got a decent deal, but now decided I'm going to stay with the S5 and keep my eye out for a decent used S3.

Will probably mod that up.
