Im starting to get the feeling, they are going to forget about us and keep working on the newer models.

Yea that's what I'm starting to feel. Does anyone know of any piggy back ecu options? Ie a the tmc tuning box or how the Bmw run the jB4. I've touched base with a few companies and the responses are very closed.

MRC tell me that they are still working on it but haven't made the progress they wanted.
REVO tell me that they fully intend to support the CREC engine and plan to work on cracking the SIMOS 16 ECU at the end of this year or start of the next.
DTUK have a 'piggy-back' tuning box for the CREC engine. There are German tuners who also have such tuning boxes (including ECU replacement kits) but tend to be a lot more expensive.

Looking at the costs for the dtuk tuning plug in and costs and gains seem to be pretty good value for money and its transferable to other cars in the future. Anyone use this on here for the crec cars yet?

There were a few members that went for the DTUK box after an offer. All very positive and was very tempted to go for it myself!

Anyone had any experience with RaceChip? Similar product to the DTUK box but a little cheaper.

Nope, but worth checking if its suitable for the newer ECU, as the spec says from 2007 onwards, whereas the DTUK is specifically for the S5 from 2015 onwards

The CREC engine has digital sensors using the SENT protocol so indeed any 'piggy-back' tuning box which works on pre-2014 S5s will NOT work on the latest models.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you very much for contacting the RaceChip Customer Service.

Yes, we do have suitable RaceChip module for this current 3.0 TFSi with new sensor technology called "SENT" .

You can find it here: https://www.racechip.com/shop/audi/a...5kw-440nm.html

There unfortunately aren't any quantity discounts in end customer sales.

Should you require any more information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

You may simply reply to this message and a member of our team will get back to you.

What's the extra throttle control do
For 199
Does it just give the ability to adjust the tuning box?
Is it worth it?

I've never heard of race chip before not sure I would fork out money for a product from a company I don't know much about. Dtuk have been around for a little while to my knowledge. Will have to do some more research.

Well I had this fitted on Friday and I'm very happy with the results.
Dtuk are only a couple of miles away, so thought I'd go through and have a chat.
Box was fitted and we did several trial runs. I'm currently running map 1 plus 2 but plan on trying the other 2 maps as Andrew said some others on here ( possibly Sam if I remember correctly ) are running map 3 -3.
The change is more than I expected and I'm more than happy with the results.
Great customer service too

I can highly recommend DTUK, been running a box on my car for around 18 months with no issues at all.

Tdi tuning offers 330 neddies for 400...don't know if it's CREC compatible though. Had one of their boxes on the dogmover for 55k miles so far....they are a friendly bunch so maybe worth a call or email.

Sober since 1st January 2016......unfortunately it is now clear to me how fucked up our world is. It's enough to turn a man to drink.....

What are the other maps? Are they have you had any other modifications to the car? Ie if car is standard run map 1? Map 2 exhaust downpipe etc?

The 'downside' of having several maps in such a tuning box is that the only way to find out which ones you can use safely is to try them and see if there are problems (e.g. excessive soot from the exhaust, engine DTCs etc.). Whilst we would hope that Audi have put all the safeguards in place to prevent damage (e.g. from running lean), one can never be sure...

I had a reply back from DMS today and asked about the CREC ecu they say the remap is available for the 2016 Audi s5 and say they can achieve very good results 418bhp with 424lb torque. If sent another email and will seriously be considering booking my car in for the remap. They say it also has 3 years of unlimited call outs if Audi do any work on the car or for any reason you lose the remap.

They said normally 1200 plus vat but would do me for 950 plus vat. Still making enquiries with them as I'm assuming that remap must be with a smaller super charger pulley but not totally sure yet.

1200....!!!

A tuning box will get you close to 400bhp for half that....

If I recall correctly the Stage 2 remap with a pulley upgrade on the previous ECU was about 850 from MRC, and could get you to around 470bhp/570nm?

Talk about taking advantage of a captive customer...Or are they factoring in the R&D costs for early adopters?

418bhp would be a stage 1 (no pulley change). You might want to double-check and say that it's the revised CREC engine with the new SIMOS 16 ECU. Previous engines used the SIMOS 8 ECU.

Fazz have you heard anything back from DMS? Would be interesting to know if they have actually cracked the SIMOS16 ECU.
