i turned on my car today and got a warning that said "Gearbox Malfunction. you may continue driving with limited performance (or something like that)". i start driving and it kind of feels like driving with the Emergency brake up. i pulled over, turned off the car then turned it back on and everything was back to normal. Going to call the dealership tomorrow to have this checked out. has this happened to anybody else? please chime in, i would like to get an idea at what kind of damage im looking at.

I know that automatic transmissions go into a limp mode when damaged. My mother's oldsmobile minivan did this when she retardly jammed the brake and the gas. Yes, she still thinks using both feet is "better"....
Anyway, she blow out a clutch pack and the car only used 2 and 3 gears, on our trip to Florida. We live in NJ, and were in VA when she messed up. Car drove fine the whole trip, but economy was down...
I digress, my best guess is that it was temperature related. Something in your transmission was sticking when you turned the car on and made the car go into limp mode. When you pulled over and restarted the car, systems checked out normal and it went about its business.
Pulling some codes will reveal the true cause, but if they try to make you buy anything, say you'll wait until it breaks down for real and they have to cover it under warranty.
