Yes - that is the control unit for the sports diff. Looks a bit vulnerable doesn't it? Good job that I have no intention of ever lowering my S5 (got sick of speed bumps etc in my lowered S4).

Regarding the marks my advice is to notify the dealer. As to what they may or may not do about it is another question, but unless you inform them you'll never find out.
If the mark on the wheel is a defect then insist on a replacement - you did not order a new car to use defective parts!
Since the paint damage is in a place that is unlikely to have been affected by a small bump (especially without also affecting other parts of the paintwork) then you have a strong case.
If the dealer is unwilling to do anything about the paint then definitely get a new wheel. You could then sell the defective one and that could well cover the cost of a smart repair to the chip.

Detail has just been completed by Ben at ProReflect - outstanding job and highly recommended.

Completed the first wash over this weekend. First time using snowfoam !

I have to say I thought it would remove way more dirt than it actually did. Being the first clean after it's detail I was hoping that one coat of foam, plus one light jet wash after would have cleaned it. I had to run over it lightly with the mitt & 2 buckets, as well as do a fair bit of work on the wheels with a new brush.
Overall it did make it much more 'hands-off' to cleaning the car. I don't like the idea that a bit of dirt could get in the mitt and put scratches all over the car, so I was hoping the snowfoam would be a little more anti-dirt than it was, but it certainly made the second wash with the mitt & buckets much easier and I was done within about 5 minutes, instead of the usual 10-15 of properly wiping the car down.

Took a few shots of my practice run on the wife's car, as well as some before & after shots of my S5 Really nice to see the water just bead off when washing down the snowfoam.

Interesting to read your experience sirshorty. I had a long run in my car yesterday so it got dirty for the first time, although it didn't seem dirty enough to use my pressure washer. So I simply used a hosepipe and spray nozzle. I was surprised at how much the dirt just 'slid' off with a mains pressure water spray. I then just washed it with a bucket & mitt and dried it and it's back to the way it was.

However maybe I'm just getting lazy but I started thinking that maybe the job would have been easier using snowfoam like I have read about from you and others. I had decided that I should look into getting myself kitted for snowfoam. But I'm not so sure now. Can you convince me that I need snowfoam?

Where I do motorway miles, the dirt gets back onto mine fairly quickly.

I wouldn't say the snowfoam wash is a miracle. However it does make the bucket & mitt wash so much easier and quicker to do.

It also reduces the chance of a bit of grit getting stuck on the mitt and scratching / putting swirls onto the paintwork - since the snowfoam generally did get rid of the general muck / dirty areas - it just didn't get rid of as much as I had originally thought it would.

What protection coat did you have done to yours again ?

Looks great ss!
My experience of snow foam is similar to yours. Although it doesn't take 100% of the dirt off, it makes the process much easier than the alternative. Try experimenting with the foam a bit thicker too

My detailer has suggested that I use foam. He suggests a first coat to remove the worst of the dirt, rinse and then foam again and use a mitt. He has recommended valet pro combo 2.

Valet Pro combo is my next purchase. I actually went to a local detailer on the weekend as I was desperate to give it a wash since it got a fair bit of muck from the motorway miles.
Going on what I was told, my 1L foam should probably last another 8-10 washes or so though !

sirshorty, what sort of paint protection did you get - synthetic or wax? If its the latter then combo may not be the best idea. I checked again with my detailer and he admitted that he recommended combo because he uses it, however this is because he uses it for cleaning cars BEFORE applying paint protection, so he needs something thorough. Although he thinks that my Gtechniq (synthetic) protection wouldn't be affected by the combo, he did agree with my suggestion that I ought to get a ph neutral snow foam instead. So although its £10 more for the 5l, I going to get the VP advanced neutral snow foam instead.

It was a wax coating - Platinum Paint by Carbon Collective.

My snow foam is this one Envy Chemicals - Bubbly Jubbly snow foam - 18.99
PH Neutral as well so should be safe here.

Going to need another one this weekend as the dirt has built up again! Especially on the wheels

In the brochure the £180 storage package is coded as PKH and QE1. However in my configuration printout I have PKH as £180 with a photo of the boot, and QE1 as £0 with a photo of the nets on the back of the seats. So clearly there are some standard storage options but Audi has not bothered to list them and has just lumped them together in the option.

Cleaning this weekend, much easier than last week! Not sure if I'm just getting the knack of what I'm doing, but there wasn't any noticeable dirt still left on the car after the foam today, although I still ran over with a mitt and bucket to be sure. Spent more time drying it today too, since I always seem to get a dirty boot lid first, probably because the water keeps dripping out even after drying.

So after 18 months of blissful driving I've decided to part ways with the S5, chopping it in for a.... dum dum dummm... electric car.
Tesla Model S that does 0-60 in a quicker time than the S5, and it ticks all my boxes for gadgets!
Hopefully Audi will come out with an A5/S5/RS5 soon that can match one because the tax incentives are just crazy right now for electric cars.

Before I list on Autotrader I thought I'd list here in case it ticked someones boxes who is currently looking.
FS: 2015 Audi S5 - New condition!

Huge thank you to everyone who has helped me make decisions and advise me on here. I know I've been quiet on here for a while but have been keeping my eye on forum posts!
