Hello....S5 from Manchester

Thought it was time to register as I have been an S5 owner for a whole month.... been lurking for a bit and got some useful info so far!

So...

Hello from Manchester, recently swapped to the 4 rings from a long line of BMW's, most notedly my last one which was an M6, possibly the most temperamental vehicle on the planet and that put a nail in the BMW coffin for me...

Cars getting a wash today, so will get some pictures taken, although I'm pretty sure you can all imagine a black S5 (2008) with red leather interior!

Welcome Watts!

Black and red is always a winning combo! I take it it's the super shouty V8 lump?

Thanks!

Yeah it's the V8... Loud n lumpy! It's going for a new exhaust a couple of weeks to make it a bit more vocal too!

It's a very different engine from the 5.0 v10 of the last car but it has a certain muscle car charm about it!

Lovely jubly,

Except you've set yourself right up for a bollocking from the driveway police on here....the amount of weeds are going to send them into shock...!

I think we could cut him some slack Doc... You don't make black shine like that by killing weeds!

Yeah my driveway is deffinetly of the 'meadow' look... It's not much better now either! Soon to be ripped out and block paved so not going to be busting a gut to go weeding when I could be out driving!

Welcome Wattsie; nice ride. What are the wheels on there? They look a lot like (but not exactly like) the ROH Furys I have my other car. I imagined that style wouldn't work on an A5 but it totally does.

Also, funny what you say about BMW. I keep hearing negative things about them lately - and not just from Audi owners! Apparently one of the local mechanics near where I live gets all his business from BMWs and Subarus. Well, not literally "all" but you know what I mean.

I think they are just standard audi wheels as I saw a few with this style so never questioned! Really want a set of RS5 replicas or Cades Bern!

As for the BMW's I had my Z4 for 3 years and replaced the same part 3 times as well as a whole host of other parts. And the M6 was just a "push start button and drive to petrol station then to mechanic"!

On the days it worked it was mental, furious and engaging, it loved being spanked! by far the best car I've owned and one of the best I've driven, but it cost SO much to run! Then It tried to kill me on the motorway quite unexpectedly!

Hiya and welcome to the site!! I find this site and these guys really informative and a really decent bunch of fellows too. Your S5 is a hell of a car and I want one. And please tell us more about the M6 I am all ears, I too have had a BMW years ago and loved it to bits, it was a mere 530D Touring but I did some great European tours and she never let me down. PS pics please!!!!!

2008 A5 coupe.
3.2 V6 FSI 2WD automatic S line.
19" rotor wheels with Pirelli P-Zeros.
160,000km. Leather interior. Love it !!
Just had the wheels refurbished, the bodywork polished, rear badges removed and fitted the pedal box booster.

Thanks, I'm really happy with it, from my limited S5 experience I say do it if you can!

I could harp on about her all day, but I'll keep it to the point! A masterpiece of an engine in a understated body. The noise was phenomenal! But sadly fluids, servicing and petrol (9-11mpg) just cost too much as it was my daily driver... Im not the type of person that is generally classed as sensible with car choices!

Still... she was a beauty... one of those cars the that looked even better in the flesh....

Yeah it was a really nice interior, bugger to keep clean though and didn't tolerate cheap denim either!
