Smile Hi everyone, a little new to this forum thing hah

Audi A5 sport Quattro 3.0 TDI coupe , 240 BHP- new to this forum thing but getting there : )

Of course I'm here for one reason only and that's because of my Audi A5 3.0 diesel, 68k miles, silver, 07reg, manual . My pride and joy, havnt had it long only about 4 month but I want to make a few modifications . Looking to getting it mapped next month if anyone has any tips or advice plus potentially looking for the exhaust to be change possibly a straight through just so a sounds a little louder and deeper seen some good ones on YouTube and I'm wanting the same if anyone has already done anything like it? Plus wanting some 19" rota alloys . So I thought why not start on a forum for first hand experience and advice

Speak soon people

Welcome to you Sarah and you seem to have found your forum feet already!!! Personally I would suggest to keep the car as it is until you know her really well and then start to change things but just one thing at a time. In this way you can really "feel" what difference that mod makes AND you can go back to standard IF you dont like the new set up. Is your car new??? How many miles on the clock??? Petrol or diesel and manual or auto??? The first easy stuff (you can read everything on here) is a new air filter (K and N or similar) to let her breathe better and then maybe some gentle chipping??? Re the exhaust, you godda be a bit careful about the long arm of the law I guess???? All the best Simon

Hi Sarah and welcome. As Simon says above a few more details about your car and maybe some photo's of your A5, you've almost broken forum rules by not including a picture of your car

Hiya Sarah hey no worries, I am also a newbie and I am starting to find my way around here hehe. Dont ask me about IPhones cos I am too old I use my PC sorry.....perhaps it thinks that you are on a PC??

I think that you have a 3.0TDI but is it front wheel drive or quattro, and manual or auto? My first move would be to locate a GOOD independent spercialist and have a full service on your car, so you know that all is good, and have everything done including all filters, transmission oil as well as engine oil change etc etc. Then you can start to really enjoy her and then gradually uprate her perhaps. My car is the same age as yours and I have so far changed the interior (found a full set of leather seats from a scrapyard, electric too!!), 4 new tyres etc etc and so it goes on, but in the meantime I really enjoy her. Mine is petrol engined and auto.

Have fun and ask away!!!

yer you were right Simon uploading the pictures are a lot easier on a pc as i have just found out cheers. and yes 3.0 tdi quattro manual, its thirsty work but wouldnt change it for the world best thing i have ever drove as i am sure you would agree.

It is due a full service in a few months anyways which i will continue to get done at local Audi garage like the previous owners, its about 400 i think but we will see. I would rather pay it i guess and keep her running smooth.

I must say i honestly can not believe the bargin you got with the seats WOW! how come you changed them though? what was in previously ?

what are you looking to do to yours next ?

thanks

Hiya!! Well the interior of my A5 was cloth and in a horrible worn and scuffed state. So a mate of mine who has a scrapyard here in Roma found me a full set of leather, electrically-operated seats from a written-off A5 (I have his word that the seats were NOT stolen, by the way, cos I will not go down that route at any cost) and he removed my old set and fitted the lovely black leather set. And when he plugged in the connecter the electrical adjustment worked straight away!!! Amazing. So the interior is now stunning.

Next I bought and fitted a K and N air filter, that was dead easy!!

I also bought 4 new Pirelli P Zeros as the existing ones were down to the metal!! Then a full service at an official Audi/VW dealer, where I will never return again by the way as I paid an arm and a leg and they did not do a good job, bastards) including new tranmission oil as mine is a 3.2FSI 2WD with 8 speed auto, and holds about 8 litres of transmission oil!!!

I have just taken my 19" Y spokes to a shop in Roma that reconditions and paints alloy wheels, I took my Vito to them 2 weeks ago and they did a WONDERFUL job on the 16" alloys, so I decided to give them the job, I should get them back on Monday, photos will follow. I have also ordered a throttle control from the UK so I should have that soon too.

Then next weekend I will leave the car with a mate who does bodywork and he will give the A5 some TLC and polish out as many of the scars as possible. And yes, I am in loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......hehe. Have fun!!!

Oh and ps perhaps the bext thing I did was get to know a great independent dealer here in Roma who now looks after the A5 for me. He has a generic electronic controller and can read the error messages etc and he enjoys a challenge too. For instance the auto transmission had a hesitation and we guessed that maybe it needed a bit more transmission oil. He managed to add half a litre, and the car returned smooooooooooth as silk. Great guy!!!! So much for the "official" rip offs.......

Definitely felt a difference, up from 239 to about 285-ish. Not on a rolling road but an experienced and renowned tuner somewhat local to me. He spent the better part of his day altering the software in-between test drives.

Done many mods since then but the new remap I've had since then isn't the best, but it that also was done by a different company so I'm planning on returning to the first guy and have him do it properly.

Regards

Hey, Sarah, welcome aboard. Simon's advice to take your time with mods is sound, and will allow you the luxury of sorting out between mods you want and mods you need. Having said that, a remap can be pretty transformative, especially with the 3.0 TDI.
If I might make a suggestion, spend a bit time reading through some of the truly excellent (and quite exceptional) build threads here in the forum. There are a number of stand-outs, including the divine madness of Cuppa's build. These are a brilliant source of inspiration for your own modding, as well as testaments to just how flexible the platform really is.
Enjoy!
