Yes the dealers will take orders now, however the car will not arrive until late March and into April.

Hi Andrew and Rare.

Great to see an owners club up and running so soon.
I am not an Audi owner yet but have been waiting for a while to find a replacement for my CLK and am hoping the A5 may well be the one.
Roll on launch day

Andrew, as you appear to be the driving force behind this site could you please let us know if you have any official or professional connection with Audi other than as an owner/prospective owner?

Good luck with the site,

Jim

Jim,

Welcome to the site. To answer your question I am just an avid car enthusiast with an Audi A4 2.0T six Speed and Miata six speed, wife has a VW Eos. I have my eye set on the A5 as I like two door cars and love my existing A4 but never found the TT to be to my liking. This site is independent and I hope it becomes a great resource for all of us.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi,
Just found about this car and am really excited, I've owned a TT for the last 5-years and have outgrown it (well OK, my 14-year old son has outgrown the back seats) and currently can't make up my mind between an ugly 6-series, and underpowered XK8 or a steeply depreciating Massarati ....Audi to the rescue!

Chas,

Welcome to the club. The Maserati will have more leg room than the TT for sure but I'm not sure it has more than the A5. Another car you could look at is the M3 but if I recall the back seats aren't much either. Let us know what you come up with and if you make the plunge!

The M3, and even the 335 BMW coupe are both on the shopping list, but, I don't know, there's something about 3-series BM's that is just a little bit too junior management about them for me. Maybe its because I had a 318 back in the early nineties when I WAS a junior manager, and wore red braces.

I know that there's a whole lot of difference between the jm's 320 diesel and an M3/335, but there's something a bit more classy about an Audi, and the S5looks like it could be a decent option for me. A TT without the 'hairdresser' image and with a bit more leg room for those in the back.

I personally think the S5 also looks a lot better than the M3. The M3 also looks a little too boxy for my taste.

Did the dealer give you an idea as to when the car is going to arrive?

Well I've bitten the bullit and just ordered an S5, metallic grey with red leather, have been given a build date of week 27, and expected delivery of 23rd July.
My dealer (Listers Worcester UK) say although they've already got a handful of holding deposits I'm the first to have specified a car. They went on to say that they wouldn't have been able to order the car from Audi (and confirm build/delivery dates) without full specification. Now I don't know if that's bull-sxxt or not, but heck, car's on its way, and I'm a happy boy.

They told me June/July. The car is specced out and as I understand there were only a few early depositis before us. I'll see when I next hear from them. Might feel like a long few months.

I'm a year away from having the necessary funds available but I'm looking forward to owning the 3L TDI A5.

I've been a VAG TDI driver for 7 years and gone through as many cars.

Hi all, good to see an A/S5 site already out there . I currently drive an A4 3.0 Q I bought three years ago. Was thinking of getting a new BMW 328 coupe until I saw the new A5. Man thats a beautiful car! Looks like the S5 will be available before the A5 in the U.S. Can't wait to see them both.

Hi spddev,

Welcome to the site. Curious, where did you see the S5 would land in the U.S. before the A5?

Hello,

Great site... Found A5 on accident, I currently drive Infiniti G Coupe which I am in love with. Then after finding out photos were finally on the net for the new G37 - I checked them out.... very disappointed. Well on the same site there in front of my eyes was the A5. Now I have a new love.

My only concern is, I have only driven rear-wheel drive cars. I always told my self I would not purchase FWD. But this "Quattro" has surely peaked into my interest. I have never driven an all-wheel drive vehicle.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I've given my dealer a deposit so I have an option to order and take delivery of one of the first S5s in the city, when its available. First deliveries claim to be November so assume will have specs to define car (in the US) around July. Really looking forward to it.

Wow, November seems really late. I have heard late July early August even for the S5.

c2one,

You should test drive an AWD first before purchasing. You get better traction off the line in a AWD car and the characteristics in a turn are also slightly different. You won't have the ability to spin the back end around just by giving it a ton of gas as you are use to in a powerful RWD car.

Hi, just found this forum after a Google search on Audi a5. It is nearly time to replace my 3 year old A6 2.7T (my third A6) and this A5 looks sweet. My local dealer hasn't been much help, but is saying late fall.

I travel on business a lot, and I want to take European delivery of an A5, or even a S5, just as soon as the US cars start rolling off the production line.
