LOL, you know that! Was gazing adoringly at those pics last week. Why the hell can't Alfa dig deep and produce a car that someone (I'd be there) actually wants to buy (and can afford - I tried pimping the Missus for an 8C but she's past her best....)? Year after year, Guigiaro, Bertone, Pininfarina et al tempt us with their vision of what the Alfisti want - and they're always bang-on! Yet we're saddled with overweight, arthritically-powered (and recently, bug-eyed) apologies for proper Alfas. However, the rumour is that the recent Chrysler link-up could at last provide Alfa with a rear-drive platform opportunity they've lacked. No problem in the engine department with the magnificent 1750 TB Multi-air unit slated to deliver 240bhp in the Giulietta GTA, so most of the pieces of the recipe could be there at some point..... They built the Brera/Spider and whilst delectable eye-candy, they were ruined by weight and fwd/4wd/power compromises. Maybe, just maybe we'll see another real Alfa in the next 5 years or so...... See? You set me off! |
