EGR valve replacement

I'm looking to replace my EGR valve with a new one as i want to sortr it out before it gets sticky as i've done over 130,000 miles thus far.

Surfing ebay i see EGR valves for left hand side & ones for the right hand side, EGR controller, EGR solenoids, EGR control flap (is this part of the valve?) ones that are metal & others that are plastic.........etc etc

Is there more than one EGR valve in a 3.0tdi?

Do ones for the 2.7tdi or 4.0tdi fit the 3.0?

Whats the part number i'm looking for & does anyone have a pic for what i'm after so i can compare to the ones i'm seeing on ebay & other web pages?

Thanks in advance

Garage
Do you know your engine code? If it's CCWA, I had mine changed recently and I'll dig out the receipt for you. I'm reasonably sure it had the part number on the receipt

Beep beep.

A new EGR for the 3.0TDI is about 300! It's water cooled etc etc. If there is nothing wrong with it at present, leave it and use decent fuels, not cheap supermarket crap, or run Millers Diesel Sport through the fuel, the less soot your engine produces, the less problems.

I've been dealing with mine recently CAPA engine.

There is a motor driven valve which controls the flow of exhaust gas and a solenoid/vacuum pusher that controls the path of the gas through the cooler (or not).

They are a lot of work to get out but you can get to the front of the EGR valve a bit easier and get some carb cleaner into it.

You need to take off the inlet piping, which will mean taking off the high pressure fuel lines from the pump and a few other bits and pieces, then you can undo the braided EGR pipe and clean the valve from the front and from the top by removing the plastic cover containing the motor and pot connections.

Removing the entire valve and the cooler it quite a bit more involved.
