Unhappy Can anybody help me on a part number for this??

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a part number for the connector circled in the attached picture. Can somebody please help me??

I'm currently running halogen rear lights on my 58 A5 3.0D Quattro and I've bought some pre-facelift LED rear lights, but they arrived minus this connector.

Would be super grateful if someone could share the knowledge!!

Thanks a lot,

Pauly_

OhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygod!!

Is that the coding from halogen to PFL LEDS??? Baas, I think I love you!!!

Regarding the part number, I took a pic of the wires at the back of the light cluster and attached it. Can you confirm that I'd be ordering the correct part for the job? The description says 4 pins but I have 7 at the back of the cluster...

Thanks,
Pauly_

Huh?? What did you do? There's no need to take off the plugs from the lightcluster nor the car. You just need 2 adapter cables. You can either buy them or make them yourself.

And yes thats the coding for halogen to PFL.

I know, right?!
Thats how I bought them though

Is this the adaptor kit?
AUDI A5 8T 8F Halogen to Pre Facelift LED tail lights adaptor cable | eBay

The guy I bought them off said they were plug and play, but the existence of the kit makes me doubt that's correct...

Baas J, I bought this kit...

AUDI A5 8T 8F halogen to Pre Facelift LED rear lights adapter cable set loom | eBay

Haven't fitted it yet, might have a go at it tomorrow...

I have a question about the coding though...

The coding you provided is different to the coding supplied with the wiring kit:
Kanal 181 65535 64608
Kanal 189 16383 16380
Kanal 191 16143 16383
Kanal 195 14852 5125
Kanal 196 14884 5157
Kanal 197 14980 5124
Kanal 198 15012 5156
Kanal 203 8266 73
Kanal 204 8298 105

Is this coding for European cars, and yours for UK??

Unhappy

Okay,

So I'm nearly there on the hardware front.

Got the lights
Got the Halogen > PF LED adapter cables
Audi A5 8T 8F Halogen to Pre Facelift LED Rear Lights Adapter Cable Set Loom | eBay

Bought this AUDI VW Skoda VAG group 4 pin connector housing plug 1K0973804 1K0 973 804 | eBay which doesn't appear to be the correct part, unless 8 wires are meant to go into 4 holes (maybe they are, I dont know!!)

Then I bought this AUDI VW Skoda 8 pin connector plug 8D0973834 8D0 973 834 | eBay because it was 8 pin and it's huge - way too big to fit to the adapter plug...

So this is an open request - please please can somebody tell me the part number I need to fit the wires pictured in my second post to the 8 pin plug of the adapter cables in the attached pics?
Maybe if somebody currently running PFL LEDs would be kind enough to pop the rear light and pass on the part number?? (There's no smiley for 'begging')

I admit I am a complete noob, maybe I shouldn't be trying to attempt this upgrade
I am extremely grateful for any help anyone can offer!!

I feel like I can't be far off now!!
Thanks guys,
Pauly_

PS Extra marks for anybody who can suggest an easy way to test that my lights are actually working - haven't been able to test them so far!

Hi GTX2010, thanks for chiming in and the support on Baas J's coding! Im very grateful to Baas J for providing the coding, I just got a bit confused by the directions supplied with my wiring adaptor!!

I'm sure the part number will make itself known when its ready lol - I might just fall into my local dealership and see if they can help. Maybe I already have the correct parts and I just don't know wtf I'm doing!!!

Any idea how I can test that the bulbs are working?? Maybe if I touched the wires to a battery??? I don't know...

Hi Baas J, thanks for responding!!

Thanks for the info, but I can't figure out what order the terminals (pic in post 11) go into the connector (pic in post 12)

I have the Pre-Facelift adapter harnesses, so once I know how to wire the connector, I can install the lights.

There are 7 wires going to 8 points in the connector, so I need to find out:

(example)
Point 1: Black
Point 2: Red
Point 3: Empty

...etc

Does that make sense??

I've currently left one of my tail lights with an auto-electrician, who is going to get back to me with the purpose of each wire, but if you're able to supply the info on rigging up the connector then I'll be 100% sure, and ready to finish this project that is boiling my head!!!

Thanks,

Pauly

No, I dont understand as everything is right before you in the pdf....the pin assignments are also there, about half way in the document.
If you have any trouble assembling them yourself you can buy plug and play adapters online...
