Post pictures of your bagged cars!

Hi All,

Haven't been online in a while as I've had other priorities, I have just bitten the bullet on purchasing myself an Airlift Digital V2 Kit. I was lucky enough to get a big discount as to be part of a sponsored car for this company. Managed to get a few upgrades as well happy days! I have already got a layout for my boot on paper and sourcing the materials from a company that specialises in wood so I have no doubts it's going to be a perfect fit. I did attend the GTI Springfest the other week (mine was the white A5 with Waxaddict stickers under the windscreen for you all to take! lol) and saw a lovely A5 that had been bagged by Only Charged Dubs and it sat so nice!

I know that bagged cars aren't everyone's cup of tea but I don't overlook the time and effort it's taken for people to get their cars to how they want them, most of them must have taken a lot of effort!

If anyone has a bagged car or owned on and would love to show it off I'm hoping that this will be the post to do so Also if anyone has pictures of their boot build for the air setup these would be appreciated as I love how creative these can be!

Afraid I can't even start off with the pictures as mine hasn't been bagged yet but within the next 2 weeks I'm aiming for it to be done. I won't disclose either of my sponsorships as of yet until I am completely air'd out

Haha it's a specific look that some folk like on their car. Involves lowering the car to rather extreme levels and is referred to as bagged, or slammed.

Not my taste at all...looks to me as though the suspension has failed, but each to their own!

I'm sure there are many things I do that people think are odd...

I don't get why you would do it. Saw a clean corsa vxr yesterday that looked nice (for a chav) but was slammed to death. Fast car but can't drive fast Incase it runs over a pound coin and rips front bumper off.

Bagging - air suppension you can adjust the hight of you car from scrapping off the floor to disco 4x4 threw the use of an hand controller in the car. Audi do a system on the all road a4 although it's a bit more subtle.

And they only slam them when parked don't they?

Shouldn't be on a car like a 5. More on chav mobiles but i don't hide my hatred off it, ruins the cars look. Looks stupid with tiny thin wheels in the arches.

I looked briefly at them systems but you can only have 3 ride height options or something like that and seeing as I track my car also air was not an option

I'm afraid it's not for me at all. The car can't be driven like it, so what is the reason for doing it? Yes, I'm old & I'm sure the answer will be as always "there are plenty of stock A5's out there".
The older A5's are now an affordable car for a lot of people so I guess they can do what ever they like to it, each to their own.

Yes they usually slam parked. The tyre rub can't be good driving it at its lowest setting. i suppose its only like fitting coil overs but you can control the height of your car from the comfort of your seat. plus there might be other benerfits to ride quality are you are riding on a cushion of air.

I was given a brand new Citroen BX as a company car (yes, a long time ago ) & it had the Citroen hydraulic suspension, self levelling, very nice ride, adjustable ride hieght etc. However, every time I parked it, it would sink to the floor & would be really embarrassing, every time I went to drive it away as I had to wait for the hydraulics to pump the suspension back up to driving height (only literally 2 seconds). I could also alter the drive hieght by a lever on the central console.
Even parked on the side of a normal road with a normal height kerb/footpath the doors would drag on the kerb/footpath.
My old house where I lived when I had this car still has scars on the join between the footpath & driveway where the car bottomed out driving over the ridge.
The most embarrassing car I've ever owned, so why do this by choice defeats me?
As I say, each to their own. I'm not looking to upset people here, just my opinion as this is a public forum, I'm sure that people who like the 'slammed or bagged' look wouldn't like the look of my standard car.

"Bagged" cars are cares on air suspension. Most systems have set ride heights that can be programmed to the users preference. It's quite common to set this at a reasonable 1" to 1.5" drop. Almost all systems now have one touch drop and one touch rise so the car will lower or raise with the push of one button in a matter of seconds. A lot of the systems have on start rise as standard so the car automatically rises to the preset ride height on startup. Todays air ride setups rival most coilover setups in regards to handling based on new technologies like height sensor based ecu's or pressure sensor based ecu's with more finite sensors and faster processors. Air ride actually excels in areas where you cannot drive lowered (read lowered not slammed) all the time and/or face obstacles like steep driveways frequently. These systems are also proven to work throughout harsh below zero winters. I can understand people not liking the look of their car sitting on the ground but I cannot understand people calling this suspension type inferior as it is not. Most people do not drive and simply cannot drive their ride once it is aired out (zero psi sitting on the ground). That is not to say there are always some peeps in the crowd who think they can do this the same way some static guys remove lower perches and ride obscenely low and sacrifice safety and rideability. For reference, I've run and installed air ride from autopilot/airlift on vw's along with various coilovers and cup kits. Currently I own an S5 which I will be installing a custom autopilot v2 system in very shortly.

I respect your opinion however I'll disagree with three points you made. First, tiny thin wheels? Mines bagged and I'm running 20x10.5 all round.

Second 3 ride heights? The Airlift V2 system has 8 presets plus a manual overide.

Finally air not an option for track? I'd strongly disagree with you after experiencing how well my Airlift performance set up handled the Nurburgring last year. When you think about it it's the most adjustable suspension available. It has adjustable damping on the shocks and adjusting the air pressure is effectivley like adjusting your spring rates as well as the ride height.

Love this car!!!!

I must ask, how much did this set up cost you? and who installed it?
This is something I want to do in the long run.

Cheers,

While I'm not a fan of the slammed look, I do appreciate that some might like it. I'm sure there are those that think my car is too much although I like to think my car has balance of power and beauty

Each to their own really but performance wise it can be tracked no issues at all and you can adjust the height the same as coilovers but easier due to pressing a button. I drive it lowered most of the time but can raise it to go over obstacles and it's pretty much instant. I'm also running 19 x 10J Rotiforms so they're not the smallest of wheels FYI

Enjoy the pics

PS it was best Audi at the GTI festival at POD and will be attending the VAG TUNER EXPO next week

I saw one car at the VAT show that the tanks installed where the spare wheel is so it didn't restrict boot space but you would lose the spare then. Didn't get a pic though as it looked nice with perspex covers so you could still see it but then saying that, Ryan's set up the tank it right out of the way.

haha thanks Jamin! I wanted to keep the option of a spare just in case really! Tyres aren't cheap when you're running 19 x 10j!! so my idea was to keep to spare plus have some boot space still... not the greatest quality but you can see, in the small pocket on the right there is a compressor for the tank as well
