Everything works like a charm..

Turns out I have not yet been out of the city yet...until this morning.
Hence, the assistant has not turned on the high beam until this morning.
The High-beam assistant is working just fine...
So I can confirm that the only programming needed for the high-beam assistant to work is to tick the option of high-beam assistant in 09 central electrics.

So can you do a roundup of what was involved. The part numbers that are now in the car just to clarify in case I confuse the various changes you have made. Any wiring or revised looms required?

Vag com coding seems ok and I assume a trip to dealer for svm code for new can gateway

Its not that you need it. I have done a lot of mods on my car that are, to be honest completely unnecessary. The read light LED retrofit was a complete waste of money. The folding mirrors as well. But that is not why you do it, now is it? I do it because it is a challenge to figure out how it is done, and it is fun. And it makes my car look better.


Now back to the issue at hand I have managed to install the Can-Gateway now (or my dealer eventually did). Now I have the symbol in the DIS with highbeam assistant on, but I think that I need something more changed in the programming. turning on the highbeam assistant in the central electrics module (with VCDS) does not seem to be enough? Anybody can help with that?

I know its out of topic, but i was wondering what was the code you needed to change for the OEM LED reading light retrofit.

I did mine on the audi a6 2012, and when i open the door the lights don't go on. And the switch (door open) doesn't work. Any tips ?

I have a big problem , i have no sound , and i m in the safe mode , with AD .

I dont know about all dealers, but the one I go to, do what I ask them to do.
They know I know the car well, and understand that I need them to do things that I can not do on my own. And it is a way for them to get money.

Many if not all jobs at the Audi dealer (as I understand it) have "routine numbers". This number is basically, a number so that the dealer can look up what needs to be done to do something. Although I dont know the actual number, I do know that coding a control unit has a routine number, hence Audi has provided the dealers with instruction on how to do it. Therefore, I think all dealers should be able to do it...?

Ok. Im going to have a look at all the various components related to headlight assistant in my car tomorrow to see what versions I currently have. I really want to do this mod but if everything needs changing, it might be too much. Then again if only the module needs changing I will go onto it.
Fantastic mod for the type of driving I do, continually dipping beams.

Well I have the D version of the can gateway according to vcds. That will need changing.

Can I check the version of headlight switch and interior mirror with vcds or do I need to physically check them?

Mick, just chedked Etka and the part code for the switch ties up with 09 central electrics 3rd part down so you can check your switch in VCDS yes, mine is rev G

They were referring to 8r0 907 468 D. I should have made that clear. Mine is the original module from 08. They said the 'r' module is a 2012 version good for the full PR code list.

Also looking out for a late model Can gateway thats good for 8N7 on Ebay, there are the following available gateway modules:

AB and R are CAN (but not for 8N7), T is MOST. S, AC and AG are good for 8N7

Actually Dave it's a little hard to say. In my opinion, no you don't have the right CAN gateway for headlight assist and lane assist.

Complication is that ETKA for MY2010 shows AE (up to Oct '11) or AJ (Oct '11 on) revisions for headlight and lane assist (8N7)... but they list AE and AJ multiple times. 3 times each, in fact... with different PR codes for each. 2 versions of each are 8N6, without, and 1 version of each is 8N7. Very bizarre.

The long-short of it is that you probably need a new one anyway. If you've got dynamic steering, it would be an opportunity to add lane change assist - let me know if you'd like me to estimate the cost involved.

Hi all,

Been a while since I wrote on this forum.
Nowadays I have a A5 with MOST (2G MMI high).
The old one only had the CAN based Audi concert stereo (no navi).

Now I am trying to do the same retrofit of the High beam assistant on my new car.
Problem is, I no longer have access to the electronic circuit diagrams of ETKA.
I only have the one posted in this thread, but I believe that it is only valid for cars with only "CAN".
Anybody could provide me with the same diagrams but for cars with MOST?

Hi have basically the same car as you 2g navi, cruise control, rain and light sensors (no side assist though).
I have installed the mirror to fit the high beam assistant, but I think what i need is a new Can gateway.
From the factory, I have 8T0 907 468 L installed (just like you).
If I am correct, you (we both) need "8T0 907 468 Q" version.
To get this working.

I have bought this can gateway but I have not tried it yet, so I cant make any promises that it will work.
But if I have read ETKA correctly, that is what we need.
