Talking Another steering wheel upgrade thread

I know this is a hot subject and there will be countless threads / posts regarding this, so I apologise in advance

However I'm looking to upgrade to a nice flat bottom wheel for my car, but looking around on the bay of e I can only find ones with round airbags which won't work as I'd look to swap out my bag. There are stunning carbon fibre ones but costing 700 So where is the best place to get one from, I've got a manual car so no paddles required (again this seems hard to find).

Would be nice to be able to spec white stitching too if possible. I know I'm NOT asking a lot here. If one of you helpful lot could offer some directions I'd be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Pete

Cars Equipment s.r.o.

I got my steering wheel from here, I think perhaps if you e-mail you'll be able to specify or at least ask for the availability of the stitch colour. As far as I know, flat bottom SW were a facelift thing and all facelifts came with a round airbag, hence you won't find a flat bottom SW that has the old square one.

If you do a search you may find that other users have found companies in the UK or on e-bay that will flatten the bottom of your current steering wheel for a price, quite possibly do other specific requests such as e.g. fabric/leather type and colour, stitch colour, perforating and if you'd like a center stripe at the 12 o'clock. I would hazard a guess this'll be cheaper than a new wheel + airbag. Do a search to find a reputable vendor for this job as I went for the OEM option from the website above.

Regards

Hi Mate

I can see you have the pre facelift a5 like me, when I got my steering wheel done I was going to go for the facelift a5 flat bottom steering wheel with the circle airbag, then I decided to go custom, got my original steering wheel made more thicker, circumference smaller, new leather all round, (flat and perforated) red 12 o click strip to match my red seat belts and totally new design interms of grip, new s logo and also white stitching so it stands out, totally transformed my interior, im always getting compliments for it, defo unique part of my car, feels amazing whilst driving too, upload the pic for you to check out, I couldn'nt put the pic in the body of my comment. ( IT restrictions at work) leme know your thoughts!

Yeah pre facelift mate, just think the flat bottoms version vastly improves the interior and make sit look fresher, white stitching is purely to contrast against the black leather and make the whole thing pop.

Your steering wheel looks stunning, is it expensive to have a standard one converted then? One downside would be I'd be without a car during the conversion but things can always be worked around.
