Blew up my transmission - what to upgrade?

So I grenaded my transmission. Time to upgrade some stuff. This is a 2009 S5 6MT with 105k miles.

-Southbend clutch/flywheel package is on the list of things to do.
-Can someone recommend a good short throw shifter?
-I will be getting drivetrain mounts either from ECS or 034.
-Might just throw in the chassis bracing from 034 while I'm throwing out all my money
-Does anyone recommend a good source on transmissions? I would probably go with a refurbished transmission seeing that new ones are up there in price.

Don't let your first gearbox oil change be at 105k miles!

Is there anything else I can improve on?

Progress:
7/13 - Ordered DXD Stage II Endurance clutch - received 7/15
7/13 - Ordered ECS Tuning lightweight flywheel - received 7/14
7/14 - Ordered throwout bearing, release fork/lever, drivetrain mount inserts, and miscellaneous parts for the clutch module assembly - received 7/19
7/14 - Found transmission code/part number from dealer. Got a lead on a transmission supplier in New York.
7/18 - Ordered transmission from ECS tuning. Ordered all hardware and grease. Ordered rear main seal to replace while I have the transmission out of the car. This should be all the items required for me to do the job.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. As to fluid changes, I always change manual trans (and diff) lube at 100k miles and have never had a transmission issue. ( 13 manual trans cars or trucks over the past 45 years) Was your failure a bearing ? Wear related or did something break?

Failure was noted by Audi as an "internal component failure". No more details than that but I'm definitely going to have a look when I get the transmission out from under the car.

First item on the list: Stage II Enduro series clutch.
This does not come with a throwout bearing or a flywheel. Can anyone recommend a good pairing for the Southbend?

I think I'm pairing my Stage II Enduro clutch with the ECS lightweight flywheel.

Beginning my research on throwout bearings...

Do you mean manual transmission? If so, yes I have always had the 6MT with this car.

No I meant standard power, or had it been uprated to Stage 2 or whatever?? Just trying to understand the likely causes for a gearbox failure.....

No upgrades. It's just a stock V8.
There was evidence of previous tampering with this transmission. One of the bell housing bolt heads was broken off. Various heat shielding hardware was missing. I'm chalking it up to a shoddy clutch replacement by the previous owner. Clutch pedal was stiff from the day I bought it and I removed an OEM clutch to a Southbend DXD and the clutch pedal felt lighter. I just didn't know any better about what stiffness to expect with the clutch.
This is why I do my own work on my vehicles. No shop is going to pay better attention to detail than me when removing/replacing components on my car.

For sure and I too like to get my hands dirty but I can only do the minor stuff like oil changes and such. So this is the only ONLY way to ensure you get the oil u pay for and not what they may or may not change and show you a different package......
