B&O Subwoofer Problem After MMI Update

Hey guys!

I am having a bit of a problem with my A5 2008's Bang & Olufsen Subwoofer after I updated my MMI 2G HI to the latest version - 5170 / 5570. I noticed that after updating the firmware, my subwoofer stopped working completely - I am not getting any bass out of it whatsoever. The peculiar things about that are two:

1. I was aware of the "lack of bass" issue that is affecting the A5s fitted with B&O and the 5570 update. However, the funny thing is that I noticed the lack of bass after updating from 3250 to 5170 (TUN v. 620). Before that, on the 3250, everything was working as intended.

2. Updating to 5570 (TUN v. 630) did not resolve the issue. Neither did downgrading to TUN v. 620 (naturally).

I am at a loss here thinking that the only way to get my subwoofer up and running again would be to downgrade the TUN to the version included in the 3250 firmware (which I have absolutely no idea how to obtain the CDs / images for).

What do you guys think about it? Has this ever happened to any of you?

I will really appreciate some help here

Cheers!

I would recommend reverting the firmware version of your MMI back to 3250 to see if you still get the same faults. This is to verify whether it is software that is giving you these faults. If after reverting back to version 3250 you get the same fault codes then there may be an actual electrical fault (whether bad speaker, wiring, termination, etc.) involved.

Hey everyone, thanks so much for replying!

The subwoofer error was there even before I updated the MMI and as Baas J. pointed out, the subwoofer was working as intended. I'm guessing the main problem is with the 03175 - Invalid Data Set error, which appeared only after I went through with the update.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this one in particular? As plat27265 suggested, it would probably be best if I downgrade to 3250, but then again I couldn't find the discs for it on the Internet. Does anyone have it by any chance?

as I said earlier:

there is a way to fix it, and this is in the beginning of this thread.

Well it is harmful in the sense that it's causing the problem I am experiencing. I seem to be missing something, how do I go about fixing it? By downgrading the MMI software?

I fixed the problem by entering different coding for the amplifier. Now I have no errors anymore.

Coding below:

Did the subwoofer start working again after you changed the coding?

*EDIT* Oh, never mind me, yours was working even with that error being detected.

Hi Loyal2DaGame

I also struggle with a similar "Invalid Data Set" problem on my new B&O amp (old was water damaged). My local Audi dealer say they can't solve it.

One thing I find interesting is when reading out Measuring Block 32 and 33 from amp, it looks like it have never been programmed with sound settings as I have "2006:08:07 Data Set Creation Date" and "0x0000 Successful Write Attempts".
Can any one confirm this config is ok or are there any updated sound setting available to 8T0035223T?

MMI have v5570 and I experiencing that volume is randomly changing while driving and bass is low (subwoofer is working).

Have you enabled the GALA feature? If so, this can be what's causing your sound volume to increase / decrease all the time. I had mine disabled as I found it to be more annoying than helpful

Do you have VCDS? If so, scan for problems and see if anything will come-up.
