Default Why will my SD card not work??

I have now purchased 3 different SD cards and it is really starting to piss me off. I have purchased a 2GB and two different 1GB and I still get the same "unreadable" message when I insert the card.

Has anyone has a similar experience?

Sounds wrong to me. I hope this doesn't happen to me. I have a 4GB SDHC card that I have already loaded 2GB onto in anticipation of the car's arrival. If it persists, I would go back to your dealer.

Probably a really silly question, but what format are you using for the music files?

If the answer is I suspect it will be, try formatting the SD cards first, then downloading data.

Unless things have very recently changed - and Audi themselves seem somewhat confused about this - their drivers do not always support SD cards and it seems to be brand picky - the best luck (read consistent) is to use non-HD cards - that usually means 4gb or less - sorry ...

Do you have 3G MMI or do you have the Concert or Symphony radios?

The 3G MMI should read just about any SD card that is properly formatted (SD or SDHC up to 32GB), as long as it's at least Class 4.

I'm not sure of the exact specs for the other non-MMI radios but they should accept a 1GB or 2GB card. I would try repartitioning and reformatting as FAT32 (and re-copying your music) and see if it works. You should also make sure your music is in a recognized format such as MP3 or potentially .M4A.

How did you format the cards? For best compatibility format the card as FAT16.

I just tried an 8gb, a 4gb, and a 2gb sd card. Only the 2gb card worked (other 2 said unreadable) and it's a really cheap one that is not hd. I have the B&O system and really would like to use bigger than a 2gb so gonna try the el cheapo brand (kingston) in 8gb.

Older units won't support SDHC. The 8GB one is definitely an SDHC and I suspect the 4GB one is SDHC as well.

Any 2GB *SD* and smaller should work, SDHC will not work in older A5s. Some, e.g. Transcend *SD* (not SDHC) 4GB cards work on older A5s. New 2010s should handle SDHC cards that allow larger sizes too.
