Audi A5 2.0 - Timing Chain Stretched after Oil Rebuild

Morning Audi Forum,

Looking for advise:

My Audi A5 (2010) had the oil issue that is commonly known and had the Pistons repaired and spent 3 weeks in the garage.

Week before last I got in the car in the morning and the engine wouldn't start. Local Garage stated the Timing Chain had stretched and it had slipped. I explained Audi had worked on this in the last 18 months and why would this occur. Local Garage recommended sending back to Audi, who have confirmed Timing Chain stretched. They are not taking responsibility and want me to pay £3k to fix the problem.

1) Anyone else had this problem?
2) I understand it has Tension parts, why wouldnt this stop it from happening

Any advice is appreciated as no expert and feel Im being taken for a ride.

You don't say what mileage in on the car.

Timing chain stretch is normal wear and tear and worsens if the car has lead a hard life. My wife's VW Jetta suffered a similar fate with bent valves at 55k miles and a new engine was £6k. If my car ever reaches that mileage, I'm having the chain and tensioner replaced at 60,000 miles as Audi overestimate the life of these parts.
