Ignition lock defective

Anyone else having this problem? Just came up the other day I followed different guides on to what I could do to fix it such as cleaning the key fob but no luck. The fob won't even stick in the car it just falls out and to stop the car I don't even need the key I can just use my finger to turn it off (I put my finger in it to check if there was something lodged in there) anyone with any other solutions if not I can phone the dealership to get it fixed and in doing that anyone know how much that'll cost in GBP?

Good question indeed but not sure I understand. What year is the car and do you have a key that you place into the hole and then press it to start the engine?? Have you tried your spare key to see if the key is the problem or the dashboard bit??? Try changing the key battery????

Silver 2008 A5 coupe.
3.2 V6 FSI 2WD automatic S line.
19" Y spokes with Pirelli P-Zeros.
162,000km. Full black leather interior. Love it !!
Recently had the wheels refurbished, bodywork polished, badges removed and fitted the pedal box booster. Full set of new Brembo discs and pads just fitted and calipers repainted in silver. New carbon mirror covers. Just replaced all 4 shocks too.

It's a 2010 car and yes it's a key fob you use I've tried both keys and no luck I cleaned out the key fob grooves for any dust or lint in there but no luck. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the key or the ignition but the light comes up every time I start my car and it just stays there st the top of my dashboard
