Things to check on a Cat C 2013 2.0 TDI S Line Black Edition Coupe

I am going to look at one tomorrow, apart from the usual things and checking paperwork is there anything else I should listen out for when driving? Have never owned a TDI Audi / VW etc before so no experience with the engine.

I have had a TT which had a couple of what seemed like common issues which were a lose window glass and a dodgy earth for the rear light. Is there anything obvious that stands out I should check and make a point of ticking off?

Check the repairs are decent and check out repairer has good feedback or VOSA/insurer approved certs. These badly damaged cars can be 'fixed' by back street garages and may look nice and shiny on the surface, but if anything related to the chassis hasn't been done properly you can have issues with handling, braking, other components suffering, abnormal tyre wear. Fire/water damaged may sound ok as a damage, physically the car should be ok, but you can get some nasty electrical gremlins.

See if you can find out what the damage was.

Also check out insurance, some insurers won't touch CAT D/C repaired vehicles.

I would ask to see pictures of the previous damage and go from there.

I'd steer clear, pay a few extra grand and get something that hasn't been accident damaged!
