Unhappy

So after re-reading other peoples steps i have managed to install the new maps! all done except activating it. - took exactly 2.5 hours as mentioned

i have a few questions and i would be greatful if anyone can clear this up for me.

from maps 5.10 to 6.22 - is there a visual change or do maps appear the same?
do you get full postcode search when up to date?
can any of you guys try searching for this post code: SE7 8AU and let me know if you can even navigate the SE7 area? - i cant get this to load and i live around that area so need it from time to time.

should i notice any other difference from firmware 0022 to 257 and the same for maps 5.10 to 6.22?

any help would be great!

thanks
J

the firmware update is for bugs, not for improvements or additions.
the new maps looks the same as the old ones; the only difference would be newly changed and/or added roads.

don't think you will have changed or different behavior, when it comes to postal codes.

great thanks! my only issue now is i cant use the GPS for my local areas SE7 and SE18 of london, is this a common bug or an issue for my vehicle?

i cant add pictures, but it basically is all grey out apart from special locations.

does any one know if this is fixable?

it pulls up the road names and such when just looking at the maps, so i know its there, but this issue has been the same for the old maps and new maps!

any light any one can shed?

Thanks

I have a 2011 audi with a very old software version but I cant seem to find an update. The dealer is giving me the run around. Can any one help, I live in North America.

Nav Database Version is 8R0060884P NAR 5.4.7

Is there a newer version that I can download somewhere, do I need some special activation from the dealer? Please help.

Hey,

just a quick one for people who have an older nav - there is something a bit different from the older maps, they now give the split screen section showing which lane to be in - which i never had on my older gen.

also can any search the SE7 post codes and let me know if theirs works? its rather annoying i can get my own local area on my nav

i hope its a bug with mine and not for every MMI 3G!

this has always been the default, when approaching a junction on motorways.
well, it was on mine
this split screen is one of the main differences between B-nav and H-nav.

Hey guys.

Got my A6 with 3G high update to _6 firmware as well as got the maps successfully updated.

However, I am not at the point where I need to activate the maps as I'm getting the Navigation blocked message.

My question is where do I find this activator?

EDIT

Nvm folks. Found it. Everything's up and running.

Thanks for the great guide!

Hey!

I went from firmware version P0022_D1 straight to K0257_5_D1 by a copy/paste mistake. Do I have to start from the first update again before updating maps or just leave the K0257_5_D1 installed as everything is working?

edit: scrolled through the pages again and found the answer on page 11. You can go straight from 22 to 57

Vcds

Hello,

I am quite concerned doing this encase it goes wrong...however, the pre-requisites state having access VCDS. How do I go about doing this? Is it a cable I require to connect to my laptop running software?

Where do I get the cable?
Where do I plug the cable?
Where do I get the software?

Thanks,

I have a problem after update. I've updated from 022 to 257 newest from package. Then I've cleared nav partition, install recent nav database. After that I've activated maps. Deleted error with wrong dataset and svm as it is written in pdf.
Right now everything is working properly, but I cannot get GPS fix. In green menu active satellites equals 0 and hdop parameters are 999. So navigation stores last known position before I went to garage and did update. Any suggestions?

Have you driven anywhere since you did it? I think you need to move at least 100m before it starts working.

Yes I have. I've moved many times. Even I've tried to delete calibration in green menu but still I don't have any signal. I don't think that new antenna which was working properly after update has died.
I will probably swap main unit in friends car to check it. If it doesn't help I will clear database again and nav partition and install maps again. Maybe you have different suggestions?

Eventually got round to updating the sat nav.

As the usual, it took 2.5 hours to fully update. Started the update and went and watched the new Jason Bourne film

I didn't have access to the green menu, so I took a risk and updated it for the first time in it's life span, still had a map version from when it was bought new 6 years ago.

Sitting on firmware _6 it installed, rebooted, activated as it should and by the time I let the system fully boot up it had found 10 sats and has the latest maps.

Cheers for the help in this thread guys..

Hi guys, I readed all thread but I am not sure if I found answer for what I am looking for.
I downloaded all files but the 3rd part of firmware looks not same like the other (its OK?)
My version is:

Software version:
Hnav_EU_K0206_3_D1

Nav. database version:
8R0060884N ECE 5.12.5

So I think I need just 3rd - 5th part of firmware update. But can I just update the last one without 3rd and 4th?
Thank you all for your answer

P.S.: Sorry about my english

Question New owner with OLD firmware & maps

Hi guys, I have recently bough and Audi Q5 09 Reg with MMI 3G HDD and I've checked the firmware and maps and obviously are OLD, I think previous owner didn't update.

Software Version: HNav_EU_P0022_D1
Nav. Database Version: 8R0060884E_ECE 5.8.5

I've been reading a lots post on this forum and I think I know how to do it but still I would appreciate if someone can answer the following questions if you don't mind.

In regards to update the firmware, due to I can read is a pre-requisite to update the maps to latest version, I should first update the firmware using the following firmware versions:
  • 1 st – 8R0906961T – firmware 0031
  • 2 nd – 8R0906961AS – firmware 0206
  • 3 rd – 8R0906961CC – firmware 0253
  • 4 th – 8R0906961DF – firmware 0257

My questions about firmware update:
  1. It's possible copy all firmware software, one folder per firmware, in the SD Card and then start to apply the firmware update selecting specific folder/version and NO update maps? .. I mean, basically I've read update take a lot time, and then I would like to split the work, first update the firmware, and maybe other day update the maps? How long take update the firmware (per version)?
  2. I'm worried about if something goes wrong with the firmware update, under your experience, should I have anything very important in consideration (I know I should remove any other media from mmi and also disconnect bluetooth)
  3. The update should be done with engine started or should be enough with ignition on?

In regards to update the maps:
  1. Should I delete the maps partition using the green menu? or your recommendation is try to update with existing partition and if it doesn't work then delete the partition
  2. Still I didn't enable the hidden green menu, Do you recommend? .. I got yesterday an OBDII wifi device and I think I can do it with ARISTA app, not sure if pay just one week or otherwise pay one year subscription

By the way, I have just Mac (OSX) computers, but I understand if I uncompress the rar folders with Arhiver app should be work, also I think I should delete any file like DS_Content from SD Card etc.. As alternative I can install a Windows using VMWare, Which one is your recommendation?

Thanks for everything, and sorry if any of these questions are already answered but to be honest I couldn't find it .. too much threads/questions.

Best regards

@rcerro
firmware-update:
1.
you cannot put all the firmware-updates on the SD-card, all together.
this has to be done one at a time.
make sure the files are at the root of the SD-card and not in a folder.
2.
my A5 is from early 2010 and needed also the 4 four mentioned updates.
it did work without any problem, as long as you follow the instructions in the pdf.
3.
the updates must never be interrupted, in any way.
I always had the engine going, in order to prevent a flat battery.

maps-update:
1.
I have never deleted the partition, as mentioned in the instructions.
afaik you can always do that, in case the maps don't fit.
my A5 has been updated 3 of 4 times now, always on the same partition.
2.
you don't need the green hidden menu, as far as updating is going.

being on MacOS you will have to take care of the special hidden files, that are always placed on usb-sticks and SD-cards.
I have an app for that, called: Eject for Windows
